Here it is.
I'm gonna go drop it off at a few places today and wanted to see how you all thought it shaped up. Don't call me either ;)

I think you should "jazz" it up. Refer to Microsoft Word's resume creator.

Also, make sure to list your hobbies/interests ... I think this helps

not bad. My only nitpicky advice is Securing career in the IT field, preferably one leading to an eventual position as a network engineer or Unix/Linux System Administrator is my goal.

This means to me "preferably unix/linux admin is my goal" - either it is your goal or it isn't. Perhaps this could be changed to

Securing career in the IT field, preferably one leading to an eventual position as a network engineer or Unix/Linux System Administrator.

or

Securing career in the IT field, one leading to an eventual position as a network engineer or Unix/Linux System Administrator.

I think my first one is probably more open-ended. This is just me!

Thats good advice. I think your content is solid, just jazz it a bit and you're gold.

Can I call your cell phone number a *bazillion* times? :)

My stylistic choice is to drop the objective section...not have the headings centered...dress it up quite a bit more, as nothing really jumps out at me (excect the huge graphic you have added in the upper-right corner) :)

Actually most places I've worked out throw out the resumes on site if it was created by words resume creator. I'm kinda fond of the basic design , I think it gets the point of it all, my experience, across in a quick way which is exactly what I want when someone thumbs through resumes. Unless a bunch of you think its too ungly I think its staying with this style :D

Good call skoorb!

So do you all like the objectives section? I just added it today since it seems like so many people have it, but I think its rather obvious to start with so if I dont need it, its gone!

So how do I add jazz to this? i've been a newspaper editor and I think the layout of a newspaper is bleeding over into this :D

Are you still in school...if so, that resume is organized incorrectly

also an "objective" section is uneccessary if you're still in school.

So what would proper organization be? I'm in school until I get a job I think, I'm sick of school ;D

I think it's organized well. I'm currently taking English 3100 Technical Writing and we just did resumes. Your's fits the bill really well, according to what we learned. :)

Might want to think about actually listing the references. It saves the interviewer time.

take out objective section

in your education section:

list your University credentials first
use the words "BS in Computer Science Candidate"
instead of "currently pursuing"...the less words the better
Include the year you expect to graduate.
Got any honors or wards you can include in education section?
What about activities. Spruce up the education part

aslo I would remove the cellular number...

it's not unheard of for potential employers to conduct the interview on the first call.
I would not want to answer such a call while doing something important like driving or whatever..

thats just me though

Ack one minute you're all telling me to jazz it up, now you're saying take out the logo. Make up your minds ;) Actually I printed one with the color logo and it looks surprisingly good and eye catching, I might keep it.

Okay I've made a few changes and upped the new one. The other change I'll consider at this mement is to drop the "currently" stuff from education and certification from those sections. What do you guys think? Leave in what I'm doing or kill 'em?

I will not make my resume over 1 page long though I'm afraid ;)

Also I listed my cellular because my computer is connected over dialup most of the time so i want them to be able to get ahold of me. I could list my pager number alternately or also though I guess. I thought that seemed a little too "pimp" though. :D

I still don't understand the logo, but ... :)

<< dude what are you talking about?

Most resumes should be 1 page exactly!!!
>>

Not according to my Technical Writing class. They say up to 3 pages is just fine, depending on how much you need.

KEEP THE OBJECTIVE.

If you're applying for your first job at burger king keep it to one page. If you have 35 years business experience obviously thats impossible. They should be kept short but there is no strict guideline like "No more than one page".

We laughed at the last guy who sent in a 2-page resume, which could have been done properly in 1...send in 3, and it would go on our"Wall of Fame." To me, it shows you can;t be clear and concise and get your point across with limited resources.

EDIT: Lose the logo :)

if i received a resume 3 pages long, i would toss it.

soybomb,
never center your name. might want to remove the logo, it looks like your advertising. also do you have references???... too many times i have asked for references and they are a no show...

also, try left justifing the headings.

Every resume in my Technical Writing text has the name centered at the top of the resume.

Try right justifying the headings...
