So, how's about this Envision Monitor?

I found this Envision Monitor at Newegg for $163 shipped, and I really like the look of it, and I assume it's a true flatscreen CRT, plus it's really inexpensive.

Does anyone have any "death"star-type experiences with this monitor that I should most definitely get another one? I like this one, I just want to know if it's a dud.

Numerous reviews say that it's a curved screen behind a front flat screen. There is also minor distortion at the edges. Not that I'd mind it too much, but if the Envision doesn't have that, and is also truly flat, plus 40 dollars cheaper, well.

I have the older style of that monitor. It's nice and crisp with nice color reproduction.

HOWEVER, the highest resolution I can use is 1154 x 862 without a 'scrunching' effect on the left inch or so of the image. I paid $189 for it a year and a half ago, so I don't feel too badly about it. If there were other options like there are these days I think I would feel bad.

Get the samsung - they are very nice & they are flat, buy @ newegg by the 4th for 99 cent shipping !

the envisions are kinda cheap

i have 2 of these envision 19 inch flatscreen monitors, and i love mine and my wife loves heres! they were on sale at staples for 129.00 and i bought the last 2 in stock, i have no distortions at the edges and as far as i can tell they are flat....plus for an extra 29 bucks we got a 5 year replacement warranty that is renewable....if anything goes wrong they will send us a new one first and we send the bad one back....hell of a deal i think....no worries with ours!

they go for much cheaper than that price at staples regularly.

i wouldn't get a CRT... 19" CRT = 18" viewable, and a 17" LCD costs less than $200 these days.

I've heard that one isn't a true Flat CRT.

And what's AOC?

Well I have seen both, went to the store & had a hard time deciding between the samsung & the viewsonic. Both very nice, bought the Viewsonic Ultrabrite A91f+ beacuse it was the same price after rebate. I bought my son a 17" envision (i looked at the 19" too) they are ok, not as nice as the samsung or viewsonic I got. The envison never really fills the viewable area & is not a true "flat" compared the samsung or viewsonic, but you will see that, as I suspect your mind is made up....enjoy
btw i had to return the first envision, hope your not buying on the net

I bought a Envision 19in LCD for my wifes computer last year and it still works great. I have not used their CRT's, but judging based on my experience with their product, I have nothing bad to add about them.
