The good:

1. Took control of my health at long last by finalizing my food allergy diagnoses. No dairy, no grains. Took a long time to figure it all out & piece it all together. I can go through an entire day without feeling like crap. Woot woot.

2. Finally got some smarthome gear (Wink). Reliability has been a little spotty, but it's super cool to control stuff from my smartphone.

3. Bought my first new car ever. Granted, it's a base-model hamstermobile, but it's mine & it's reliable! I leased budget cars for a long time due to a history of bad luck with cars, nice to have something that doesn't break down on a regular basis! :awe:

4. Finally got fairly minimalist on my belongings. Consolidated down to one workstation, which we keep in the kitchen (Hackintosh), and a Chromebook for surfing around the house. The TV's all have Roku boxes & that's it. I don't really ever have to do tech support at home anymore since everything "just works". I get my computer tinkering fix through work these days...it's actually really nice to come home & just use stuff instead of constantly tweaking & fixing stuff.

The bad:

1. Hit 30k posts on ATOT. What am I doing with my life :D At least the Lifer forum is awesome...

2. As somewhere here put it, I'm basically allergic to Western civilization (corn is in everything). Makes cooking & eating a pain.

3. Had to push back a few of my classes to finish my degree up until next year due to my work schedule. I may get tenure before I graduate hahaha.

What are you doing to become a millionaire?

P.S. Once you become a 'certified' millionaire, we can let you into the ATMC (AnandTech Millionaire Club) sub-forum. :)

Pretty good for me!

Got to do a couple 2 month trips overseas.
Got to know a wonderful girl who I will hopefully date this year.
Got into the best physical shape of my life.
Met some great new friends from around the world.
Went from intermediate Spanish to nearly fluent.
Increased my passive income stream.

Dude, stop being sad about being single. You can sit around and eat ice cream in your underwear, watch anything you want on TV, don't get forced to visit people you can't stand, and don't get your expenses scrutinized.

Relationships in a nutshell:
"What are you doing wearing your pajamas at 11am????? Go get dressed! We have stuff to do!!!"
"You can't watch "Cosmos" on TV right now. The DVR is recording The Real Housewives and Keeping Up With the Kardashians, so all the tuners are in use."
"We're going out with my friend and her husband tonight. He's a staunch republican, so don't bring up anything related to politics."
"You bought comic books??? HOW OLD ARE YOU AGAIN???"
I do like a lot of things about being single. It's nice to be able to do what I what, when I want, and spend my money how I please. It's just that I've been doing it for about 10 years now and it's pretty goddamn lonely. As shy and introverted as I can be, I genuinely miss having a partner.

With the exception of taking a trip to the Southwest and New York, it sucked. Terrible.

Started off good, ended crappy. I have a superstition about even and odd numbered years. All the negative life altering things in my life always seem to happen on even years, positive things on odd years. Just weird it's worked out that way. So I'm hoping 2015 is going to be a great one.

hah!... here's a question, were you born on an EVEN or ODD year?

I have Jedi ignored but I'll post here anyway.

The Bad
1. Went on a three month long road trip that cost me thousands of dollars, drove my stress levels up to infinity, and basically told me that I was right about everything. (Which is: It's all shit) It was a loss-loss.
2. My car was stolen. (It was recovered)
3. I had to spend thousands of dollars to repair my car and hundreds of hours working on it to get it back to "running, isn't all broken, and doesn't smell like shit. But, still not really fixed all the way."
3.5 Car was on the verge of exploding/completely not working my entire trip across the country. On top of that, it was during the summer and the AC broke. ($1000+ to fix at a shop; I can't pay that, I was already way over budget due to a lot of unexpected expenses and my inability to find a place to live)
4. My road bike was stolen! The fuck! No recovery. Completely gone.
5. Homeless for 6+ months. Partially because of the road trip, partially because I couldn't find an affordable place, and partially because...
6. I couldn't get a job after college. I have a <10% response rate to my resumes. The amount of jobs I can apply to across the country is less than 10 a week. Still without a job now but I have way less money than when I started the trip. If I had known it was going to be this difficult to get a job instead of every single peer/adviser/employed-person saying it would be easy then I would have never done the trip. I already thought the trip was a bad idea when I started it but I didn't think there were other good options if I had a chance at getting a job after the trip was over. Truth be told, I thought it would take <= 3 months for me to find a job from start to finish but I had saved for more than that. It has taken much more than 3 months now. Nearing 5+ months of nothing but job hunting while unemployed. It's maddening... It will be very difficult to move to any city now without relocation assistance. I have <$6k in the bank and didn't expect the job search to take this long.
7. No new friends. Very lonely year overall. I was expecting to move to a new city by now or have a placed lined up on Jan 1st.

There's more but whatever.

The Good

1. Graduated college. Didn't get the degree I wanted, at all. Spent 3.5 years of my life in a city I never liked and 6+ years in total in college for a degree I never wanted. I never wanted it for a single moment but I was forced to get it because of financial constraints and not getting into the major I wanted to do at the college I was going to. On top of that, not getting into the major I wanted ended up making every single fucking part of my career choice 100x harder. If I can point to any point in time of my life where everything definitely went from really difficult to impossible it is when I didn't get into that major.

2. No idea. I mean, the graduating college part wasn't even good. If anything, it was bad. I lost everything I had in search of something better. I spent over 6 months of my life searching for it and still am. I've found nothing and, in fact, everything is horrible without any income because I can't spend any money.

Oh, and not having health insurance sucks. Thanks, Obama!

Had a boy. Got a new vehicle. Paid down debts. Earned enough points for one of two tickets to fly back home in 3 weeks. Got a new phone. Made less money and got to spend more time at home.

Notables on the downside is my unit got water damage twice (once yesterday) from water main break two floors above.

Overall it's been a great year for us.

Good:

Watched my cute little daughter grow up
Moved to a nicer house in a good neighborhood
Got a new laptop and a new phone

Bad:

Screwed up my credit by having to short sell my old condo
Wasted a bunch of time at a job that bores the hell out of me

I really need some IT training so I have a chance at getting a better job in the future.

My 2014 was alright.

Good -
Healthy myself and my family members are well.
Everything went well relatively speaking.
My side business is doing well, my net worth (without a house) is in 6 figure, hopefully it will be 7 figure one day (crossing fingers).
My trips to oversea were fun and productive.

Bad -
No pay raise, again.
Relationship is up and down, again.
Rent is up, again plus management added more new fees (thinking about buy a house just to give them a finger).
