Basically my dad is dead. Not physically, but he has been so emotionally and mentally damaged he isn't my dad anymore. I don't know him, and I can't reach him. Long story but it is basically like he got run over by a truck or something. I saw him last night, and afterwords I just cried and cried.

Yup, it's the only thing to do:)

Leave depression for the dogs :)

Dog is my Clan name, how did you guess!
I've been depressed ever since I started thinking about the universe rationally as a kid, and lately the depressions only got worse.
Positive thought at the moment consists of "Maybe I'll die soon now".

Well, I used to have depression. But about 6 months ago I said "fvck this!" and got rid of it. Yup, it is just as easy/as hard as making the mental effort to not be depressed.

Like now. I am currently very sad, but I am NOT depressed (yes there is a difference :)). I have made a commitment not to be depressed. And while I am rarely happy, I have been depressed-free for about 6 months now :)

Then you had a very light depression, or not a real one. Heavy depression is an illness. So is rational thought btw.

Well, I don't know if being depressed for 8 years pretty much nonstop can be called light (it was so bad sometimes I would go a whole day without opening my mouth sometimes... didn't even eat let alone talk). But that is what it was for me.

Not eating or sleeping and avoiding all contact is normal behavior for me. Thinking about suicide happens a lot too. The only reason I am still alive is that there is one person I still care about.

Well, what I am trying to say is that it is your choice. It took me a long time to see this, but it is true and I am doing much better since I came to this realization. I had been sleeping the whole time.

We get fed so much BS on the news these days. Sleeping..., this is the very thing that that we are being taught to do. Buy! Buy! Buy! Let that which is material take away all your troubles! Depressed? Take this pill and you will no longer be so sad. Tired? Just take this drug, perfectly legal of course, and you?ll be jiving for hours. You don?t actually need to deal with any of these problems, because we?ve got everything taken care of. The only thing you need to worry about is getting a job so you can get enough money to buy our product. Heck, you don?t need to worry about living anymore. All the above is one big giant pill that takes care of that. Just buy into it and you can live your life in a stupor? you can sleep through the whole experience.

I truly believe that this over pacification really is self-loathing. By shunning confrontation we are limiting ourselves from realizing our full human potential. Without the bad there cannot be the good. And without the good there cannot be the bad.

So there is good out there, you just aren't seeing it. Open your eye's man!

Choose life. Choose hope. But whatever it is that you choose, know that it is your choice :)
