So, how old school am I with watercooling?

I've been watercooling for nearly 8 years now. My current setup:

Chevelle heatercore from auto parts store.
Self-made fan shroud with dual 120s in a pull configuration
Swiftech Apogee
Swiftech MCP655 pump
T-line instead of a res.
Combination of vinyl and Masterkleer 1/2" tubing

Currently cooling my Q6600 nicely @ 3.6GHz

I'm seeing all this new fangled watercooling stuff and I'm wondering if there has been some sort of dramatic increase in performance. I know that air has come a long way?

I must be behind the curve as well because my setup is very similar, though I replaced the heater core with a MCR220 for ease of mounting. Then again, I think the bulk of my issue with the newer gear is price. I can't believe people pay that much for some of this stuff.

not that far behind believe it or not.

the only real big improvement in h2o world is the waterblocks and the pump tops. 😀

i dont consider fesser a big improvement in radiator, due to its rediculous price.

From my observations:
Many heater cores still perform quite well compared to their high priced "pc made" counter parts.
Many of the newer blocks do perform better, but their marginal gains aren't worth the premium prices.
Most of the pumps are still the same, though many are opting for DC instead of the old AC pond pump setup.

actually gill depending on the pump(s) and config, its more then a few C's. on the block side.

I agree w/ most of this statement but feser really is top dawg now,,, TC doesen't give you a holo sticker!
After having looked that over I'm more than satisfied w/ Swiftech. Don't get me wrong, I do own a TC and love it, but for the price I'd take Swiftech anyday.

I just looked at Feser prices. OMFG $120 for a frickin' single radiator that I paid $25 for a double at the auto store??? Ultra pure water and special cooling fluid? I still use distilled water mixed in with antifreeze to keep my loop sterile... Does Feser not even make waterblocks? I guess everyone is hurting with the cost of copper?

wont catch me recomending anything but distilled and maybe algae cide and some pentosin. For a Copper Only loop.

However you wont catch me personally using anything besides straight distilled.

My point is exactly that, for the price (unless you go uber top tier) there is only a few c difference in most mainstream components.
