So....how much memory does it take?

I have an Abit AT7 max2 and I am going to get some more/better memory for it. The front of the manual where the specs are, it says I'm only allowed 2 DIMMs of DDR 333/400. So, this seems pretty low, esp. considering 333 has been around awhile. Bear with me, there's more. If I go to the back of the manual, where you install the memory, it says I'm allowed anywhere from 64-3.5 GB of unbufferred & non-ECC PC3200/2700. If there's four slots (and there are) it would take 4 768 MB DIMMs to fill those. Now if you take into account I'm only allowed to use two slots, that means I have to find 1.75 GB DIMMs. Gee, don't recall ever seeing those before. Should I just go ahead and bug Abit on this one or do you guys have any ideas? Cheers

You will probably be able to use all 4 slots with DDR200/266 memory. That will probably mean 3x 1GB, and 1x 512mb.

With the higher speed memory (DDR 333/400), you are limited to 2 slots for latency issues with the chipset, and so the max you'll probably be able to have is 2GB, 2x1GB.

Thanks. Is that where the nForce shines with its dual channel abilities? I've never seen anyone load it up with 2 GB before though. I'm sorta new to the whole modern computing thing. Last time I was active was around P3/Athlon TBird days. It seems to me that since the KT333 is mature by now they should have DDR333 down by now. I don't see why this board couldn't handle a full load of the stuff. I do understand it puts a strain on the memory controller. Ahh, probably just answered my own question
Thanks!
