Hi y'all,

I was wondering, how many Unreal games and variations are there?

I know these:

Unreal
Unreal: Return to Na Pali (expansion pack)
Unreal 2
Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament 2004 (the one that's 6 CDs or something)

Am I missing anything here?

I think there was a multiplayer-only expansion pack (free download) released for Unreal 2 late last year, but I'm not sure of the name.

Ahh... I knew there is something I'm missing... So basically, there's no reason to get UT2003, if you already have 2004? Same weapons, maps etc. ?

Unreal 2 XMP.

The XMP "Expanded Multiplayer" addition to Unreal II: The Awakening incorporates a class-based multiplayer system into the single-player title. This install requires the PLAY DISC from the full version of Unreal 2: The Awakening.

From here.

You just get a lot less with 2003. No onslaught mode, less maps, less guns, no vehicles, fewer gameplay modes, etc. I'm pretty sure 2004 has everything 2003 had.

Yep, no need to get UT2003 now that UT2004 is out and better in every aspect.

New... UT2k4EC edition will be coming out this fall . It will be a free addon to those who purchased UT2K4, new vehicles, models ,maps and mods. plus the Euros just released a super high quality CTF map pack over at the Atari forums....

Return to Na Pali was just as good as the Original and integrates seamlessly with it . . . i loved it (played it in Hawaii on vacation in '02 on my notebook . . . three months is a LONG vacation)

Unreal II is OK . . . frankly, it is a better game than Doom III (which isn't saying much) but - although the visuals are nice, the gameplay falls (way) short of the original (plus it is also short - just not stupidly "easy" like Diii) . . . it's in the bargain bin now . . . check it out

RTNP was a very solid expansion though it felt a little rushed near the end. It's definitely worthwhile.

Unreal 2 was disappointing - don't get it unless you see it in a bargain bin.

There is also Unreal Championship for XBox, and Unreal Championship 2 on the way.

I have bought every single Unreal game that's been made for PC (although I then sold Unreal 2 and UT2k3, even before 2k4 was released).
Can't get enough of them.

I'm surprised that no one's mentioned Unreal Gold which was Unreal AND the Na Pali expansion rolled into one. If you can find that in the bargain bin, it's a real steal. Most "Game of the Year" editions just bundle the freely downloadable levels and bonus packs and UT2K4 is like 2K3 plus the expansion packs that made 2K3 almost passable, plus Onslaught etc.

Unreal 2 was a big glitzy bore with the most pointless storytelling mechanism (the ship and crew conversations) and was a real downer. I keep forgetting that I played it.

Remember how amazing it seemed to go outdoors for the first time in Unreal and seeing that waterfall? After Far Cry, doesn't it look so primitive? What are the games of 2010 gonna look like on our GeForce 40,000 UltraOedipus cards?

So far IMO, UT2K4 is the Game of the year . As not Ass far as, Graphics , Game Value , Mods, Dev,Community Support, Fun Factor, ETC.

H2 is still an unknown to me, but I wait in eager testing mode to bloviate....
