So, how many of you have been affected by this RPC thing?

My friend routed my box the other day with it... did it a few days before that... and two days ago i got randomly rebooted by the bug.


As for your personal firewall, it isn't gonna do anything against this exploit. You are just lucky.

My friend's called me about 20 times today while I was sleeping (During the day.) He goes on to blame me, and the other "toolbags" of the world for this problem, haha.

But, I talked him through it.

I have a router, setup properly, and ZoneAlarm on my computer. (Dont' really know if I need both.) And I updated my home machine, as soon as our company emailed everyone with an urgent request to patch their systems.

Had a friend call me three or four times in a row today talking about this, asking what could be done. I haven't been paying much attention to viruses lately, and so figured it was just some random thing attacking the remote thingamajigger in windows. The shutdown countdown was new, though.

So that's what's been causing all this. Thank the lord for windows update and my router.

I just finished fixing 3 computers infected by RPC and my Cell has been ringing off the hook. I'll going to leave my cell off for the next 2 days.
