so how many of you have a clean enough background and skeleton closet to run for office?

The worst I've done is legally banged a whore in Nevada.
I'm not ashamed of it but I'm sure my campaign manager would be unhappy about it.
Though I did only use cash and that girl wouldnt likely remember me.

Of course, looking at most of the Presidents from the past century, it seems you cant get into the policital life without having done something fvcked up.
Or even worse, get into office with a stellar record and then bang a blonde bombshell.

Well, considering I am an Atheist, pro-choice, and am not an oil-tycoon, I probably couldn't win. Although, I guess if some people decided to elect a "common-peoples" candidate, I might actually be able to win,

Thats a good point but the problem with security checks is they only go out and seek people. And only people they think would have info.
When you run for office, fvckers seem to crawl out of the woodwork and come find YOU.
And the reporters listen, because hey, "I could be the next Woodward and Bernstien".

And killing reporters is messy because folks will actually miss them. Then you need a place for all the bodies, its just.....................

Oh, Oh.

OH NO! I'VE SAID TOO MUCH!

Nothing really illegal and I had no roblems obtaining a security clearance. However some of the things I've said on the net and to friends/ enemies would likely be a problem...................

Well, I've got a few things that might be used against me, but nothing major or that I'd worry about. I'm clean enough to get a security clearance and be an officer in the US military.

Never had so much as a ticket, never done drugs, always pay my taxes and bills on time, don't have any super embarrassing relatives. But the SO thing would probably stop me.

Depending on where you run that could actually be an asset.

Yeah right like you need a clean background to run for office.

90%+ of those guys are taking bribes left and right.

Sorry, I'll try to get a DUI this weekend so you'll think I'm cool.

I don't think a clean background is necessary. I think the biggest problem is trying to hide stuff and then obfuscating and lying about it when it starts to come out. That said there is nothing in my background that would disqualify me from running for office. If asked about youthful indiscretions I would just answer honestly and let the voters decide if it is a big enough deal to override their agreement with my stances on issues.
