I've wondered this for awhile and this seems like a good time to ask:

Can you gain weight from zero calorie foods?

I can think of it two ways. The first is that since your body doesn't get any energy out of the food through digestion (hence the zero calories), you can't gain any weight because there is nothing for your body to convert to fat, muscle, or anything else. The other way I can think of it is that there are zero calorie items, such as vitamins and minerals, that do not impart calories to your body yet are absorbed and would thus add weight (however small) to your body. So does something like Diet Coke have stuff in it that is absorbed into your body even though it's zero calorie?

I hope that makes sense. Does anyone know?

I don't know, and I am not really that concerned with it. I work out 5 days a week though... I'm a bit overfat but not really overweight (I need to replace the fat with muscle).

I count calories fairly well. I did however fail to realize that a package of dehydrated pineapple has 570 calories....

Stupid pineapple.

So, I'm at about 2040 calories so far today.

Of course, I haven't really had anything counting as dinner yet.... we'll see if I eat anything else. So far this is fairly typical for a day up to this point, though.

I manage to get somewhere between 3000 to 4000 calories a day. If I eat more than that I feel sluggish.
