Piece of Crap died on me(the 3 red rings of death).

So how long is the average response time? They said it was 4 to 6 weeks.

Took me 40 minutes just to get a repair box shipped to me.

3 weeks is typical, but 6 weeks does happen.

Got a PS2 to keep you company? There are still good games coming out for it, a gamefly.com sub or a trip to pick up some $5-10 used games might help.

GameTap.com has a bunch of PC games including Overlord and classics like Planescape: Torment.

I'm in the same boat. Mine was received at the repair center 1 week ago.

I actually sold my PS2 to someone at work for $25. This was not a waste move looking back. I figured I was going to buy a PS3 and plays PS2 games on the PS3. That didn't turn out too well.

Hope I get it back in time for COD4 and Halo! Looks like some real good games coming out.

Seems like everyone I know has had to have theirs repaired for either a heat issue or a problem with the CD drive. Is there a forum out there that discusses the problems with the XBox360? I've got an XBox360 that's a little over a year old and I was getting a 'disc read error' in Gears of War pretty often. I'm wondering if I should get a repair request in for mine.

Hmmm... If that's the case I'm definitely going to have to check my purchase date. I think I'm > 1 year but if the 3 year warranty only covers the RRoD issue I better find out for sure.

If my $428 (w/tax) investment goes bad after only a little over a year of very little use (I mean < once per week) and isn't covered I'll be *pissed*.

Mine has been gone for almost 3 weeks now. They emailed me this monday and said it was finished being "repairded" and would be sent back to me soon. Unfortunately they haven't sent me an email yet saying its been shipped so I think they're taking their sweet time with it. I don't understand why it takes so long for them to get these back to people. From what I've heard people usually get refurbished units back, so I don't see why they can't just ship out a refurbished unit after they test the one you send in.

Just got off the phone with a native english speaker, the guy a spoke to initially was not *Indian call center rep?*. I called again because it has been 9 biz days and no shipping box yet. It turns out that the 1st guy borked the procedure, and the carrier I.D.? was null. So, now they are sending one out, but unfortunately they evidently have no way as reps to expedite shipping to help out customers that get shafted like that. He said 3-4 weeks is the average turn around lately, so it'll be amazing if my 360 beats my copy of Halo 3 to the house.

I joked with him to put a note on my order to send me the HDMI model, laughter ensued.

ouch. that really sucks. It's pretty bad that you can't trust that they know how to put in a trouble call properly. good luck getting it back by the time halo 3 is released. Mine will probably decide to die the day of the release with my luck.

I wonder if the procedure is any different if you actually bought a service contract for the xbox? As in faster shipping or anything, you did actually PAY after all. I highly doubt it, but can still hope.

If you're out of warranty, I suggest doing it yourself with some parts from Lowes. It's called the Xclamp replacement mod. Mine has been going strong for 2 months.

You spoke with a Native English Speaker???? I had to deal with some gal from India or some gal with an accent that sounds like she was from India. I hope she spelled my address right.

How come call centers now have an option for Spanish speaker but they don't give us an option to speak with a native english speaker?

Mine is covered under the 3yr RRoD warranty Chris and naOH.

Did you call on a weekend Benny? Because my first call was on a weekend, so perhaps that is when the outsourced call center is used? Or it could have been because I said I was checking on repair status. You should try using that option today, and see if you get the U.S. reps. It'll give you peace of mind that your service is being handled correctly.

I've been keeping track of my repair status in the following thread:

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2085794&enterthread=y

I should have it back probably a week before Halo 3 comes out, which is all I'm worried about. However, I've already got a pre-arranged deal with a guy I work with at Gamestop who was thinking of buying a used 360 and hard drive with his employee discount. After his discount and tax, it'd cost him around $260. I offered him my newly refurbished unit with the hard drive and full warranty for $230, at which time I'll purchase a new unit with the HDMI.

I'm not 100% sure I'll go through with that plan or not, but it's in place if I want it. Since I'll need to purchase the extra HDMI pack along with the new console (I need the optical out it provides), after my discount on that HDMI pack, I'll end up paying an extra $180 on top of the $230 I'll get.

I guess I need to figure out if it's worth it to spend that extra money to take advantage of my new 1080p with HDMI, or to just buy a $40 VGA cable and be done with it (my TV supports 1080p through VGA). I'm just questioning the picture quality of VGA when compared to HDMI. I plan on playing a lot of 1080p content through my HD-DVD player add-on.

I asked the wrong question.

I should have asked:

"HOW LONG TILL I GET MY SHIPPING BOX??? IT'S BEEN 6 WORKING DAYS ALREADY!!!"

Still no box. I bet that gal in India botched it.
