So how long is software going to be the "half-Life 2" forum?

Why the hell can't we just have our damn programming and web development forum, or a games forum?

Games and programming do not belong in the same forum.

OverclockersUK (the other forum I frequently visit) have recently added a HL2 sub-forum to their PC & Console Games section. In 6 days, there are over 5000 posts and about 300 threads

They've also got a seperate programming section, which thankfully is pretty good.

WHY OH WHY CAN'T YOU DO THAT HERE??

My god you got a lot of posts! :Q

But to answer the question, probably until all of the installation, registration, and gameplay problems are resolved and people actually TRY a little harder to pass levels instead of asking here each time they get stuck! 😀

Jesus, second thread, look at the whining. If you wait 1 week this forum will be back to normal. And by normal, I mean dead. Then you will have all the room in the world to post whatever is so important that it can't be posted now.

I concur... I'm even playing HL2 now. It would be a mess trying to talk about programming with all the HL2 talk drowning it out right now.

It wouldnt be so much of a problem if the Steampowered forums weren't behaving like a second rate server running on a 386 processor. If people could actually post there, then much of what is here would go away.

Don't blame AT forum readers for Valve's inability to actually plan for oh.. a game release 😉

Whenever the new hotness of gaming comes out, this forum becomes the "Pleeze hepl meh wit teh [game name]!! Stuck/glitch/crash!!!" zone and other people whine about it.

Could you provide a link to your posts about how all people did here was complain about how dark and unfun Doom 3 was and where the hell is the Far Cry 1.2 patch and.....you get the point, I hope.

I agree with this post!!

There was a petition that was going around in Forum Issues regarding this. Not sure what the end result was, tho.

I'm pretty sure the end result was the creation of a Games forum... Oh wait, no, no, it appears that that didn't happen. Results are funny. 😛
