I just got one for 129.99, I wanted to get a 7600GT but I got tired of waiting (AGP) and jst got a 6800XT, I said, with some overclocking and some pipe unlocking i'll be set, I cant' try the card until tomorrow night but what should I expect? Is it better than a X1600 mobility? I have that in my laptop and I'm happy with the performance it gives, if the 6800XT is better then that would be enough for me and I love the idea of being able to tinker with it to squeeze more performance out of it.

The x1600 is prolly better , a 6600gt even out performs it in some areas..... unlocking isnt 100% if you can unluck it , it will be alright.

I used one recently on an Athlon 64 system that I built for my cousin. She plays games @ 1280x1024 without any problems so far. She has told me that she loves Quake 4, it is quite smooth. I am not sure if that helps or not.

yeah well it helps, I've seen some benches and the 6800XT seems to be better than the 6600GT, I did get the 256MB 256 bit version with a 1.0ghz memory clock (XFX XTreme :p), well I won't know for sure until tomorrow but I guess I can't complain for 129.99$ and I know it will be tons better than the 9600SE it is replacing anyways.

Depends on which 6800XT you get. It might range from lesser than a 6600GT to slightly higher than a 7600GS. But for 120$ there is no point.

Also, don't even compare to a 6800GS/GT.

The 6800xt should have more ram bandwidth, but if its a 8pipeline card the 6600gt should be faster (unless unlocked). In the end a 6600gt and a 6800nu perform almost equally, the 6800nu does better at higher AA and AF level, then again at thos level and higher reso, both cards get low fps

A 6800xt should be a good card, i still have my 6600gt in second comp and it still playes everything i throw at it at 1024 * 768, with some AA and AF in some games games, some games still run great at 1280 * 960 even.

Yeah well thats good to hear, I can't wait to play and tinker with my new toy :p I've just been able to appreciate it from the outside yet and XFX definitely knows how to make some flashy cards lol I like it, hopefully I'll be able to unlock at least one quad and overclock it nicely but even if I don't, I'm most likely sure I'll be happy with it.
