So...how exactly does note-taking work with the tc1100?

That's what I'll be getting this fall. Don't bother telling me not to get it if you feel that way, it's free. Yes, the processor sucks, and the screen is tiny, but I shouldn't be using it for anything besides school work so hopefully that'll be just fine. I would just like to know how note-taking works exactly with this kind of TabletPC, and if it'll be able to completley replace pen and paper for me. How is it terms of writing, erasing, saving, converting to typed text, etc?

I'm assuming not too many people here have experience with them.

No experience, I have only seen 1 in my life, but as far as I have seen, you just write straight to the screen. You will probably need microsoft onenote to use it effectively, which is a nice program, pretty smooth, and easy to use.

As far as I know yes, it can translate legible written text into typed text. I haven't used it for that feature, but I am pretty sure it does. Naturally of course, I am sure htere is a learning curve for the software. Most likely you will have to "train" it, and the more you train it, the better it will respond. And I believe you can erase as well, but that depends more on teh stylus you receive than on the software. If the stylus can't be programmed to have at least 2 inputs (but should probably have more like 4 or 5), then you won't be able to erase. Have you ever used a Wacom Tablet or the like? Something like that.

Oh, and one note can also record audio along with whatever text you are writing, and ti will associate the audio with the text you wrote, in case you want to record a specific part of a lecture or make a note to yourself.

Just did some checking for you, and it appears that you have to buy a stylus with an eraser...make sure you do that, otherwise, no you can't erase!
