So, how do I bring up this topic with my parents?

So, it's the whole dating thing. Thing is, I'm not sure how they're gonna respond, ether positively or negatively. Is there a good way to bring up this topic, without totally throwing em off? They've never really told me if they approve or not, and well, I've kinda got plans for this weekend:D, that kinda need their approval.

I'm going to out on a limb and guess that they 88 in his name refers to his year of birth, making him 18.

Whats the problem? Are your parents really conservative? I would think your dad would be happy your dating.

Say something to the effect of?

"Mom, dad, I am going out wtih (blah) tonight, what time do you want me to be back"

I am sure they will ask..who is Blah..

then you can explain...

At 17, they're probably expecting you to start dating at some point, so just let them know you'll be going out and when you expect to be back.

Have fun! :D

Yea, my parents are a little conservative. Thats the problem, I think my dad would allow it, but my mom is kinda a pain in the rear.

Wait, your a guy? What are your parents reasons for not letting you date till now? I haven't seen this sort of thing happen with the male before, usually I hear about the daughters that can't date until a certain age.

I would just be up front and don't hide anything, that way they will trust you and have no reason to worry about what you are doing, anothing reason being its more likely they will let you go again if you don't mislead them.

:) good luck with parents/date

i am a parent.

tell them the truth. they were 17 once, and wanted to date... i am sure they will understand how you feel.

tell them that, out or respect for them, you want to be open and honest. tell them that they are really good parents and it is now time for them to trust you and trust themselves in the job they did raising you. tell them you will do the right thing and act respectfully to them, the dates and youself at all times.

use your own words.

good luck.

17...that makes you a junior/senior? Gimme a break, even for conservative parents your more than old enough to go on a date
