So how did Michael Ware get the videos?

I'm reading CNN and they were saying how Michael Ware was given the video of the insurgents attack. From the way the article is written, I interpreting it as the insurgents know about Ware, and they just give tapes to him....So is he acting as the reporter and middle man? So the insurgents let him follow them around?? If that is true, that is freaky dangerous........

anyways, just want to clarify this, and make sure....
 
It truly is horrendously scary what this man (Ware) has been exposed too. IIRC, this is EXACTLY the same thing Daniel Pearl was doing (hanging out with insurgents, visiting their safe houses) before he got kidnapped and killed.
