There are a couple of very specific issues that I would like to know how they stand. Of course I have searched their websites without any luck.

In a perfect world I could just shoot them an email, but that doesnt seem very possible.

Any ideas?

Judicious use of Google? Elsewise, I'm sure that even in this imperfect world there are e-mail listings under contact info for both campaigns. What issues? Care to share?

Kerry covers the issues on his web site I think. Not sure about Bush, you can just go to the Bible on that, except on war, feeding the poor, death penalty, etc.

I dont really want to start a political debate on the issue, so I'd rather not mention it. Both websites listed their views on a lot of the big issues, but not the one I am concerned about.

nice site, but doesnt really help me at all.

OK, I am looking for these guys' stance on the stem cell research issue. I know Bush voted to keep the existing ones we had back in '01, but there have been unforseen problems since then. Kerry hasnt really spoken up on the subject...or at least not to my knowledge.

I would love to be able to call these guys up and debate with them for a bit, but I live in reality.

Anyone with any info?

Improve Health through Stem Cell Research: Stem cell research has the potential to fight diseases such as Parkinson?s, cancer, and diabetes. Bush only supports research on a few inferior stem cell lines, which has undermined discoveries that could save lives. Kerry will support stem cell research.

Technically Bush supported existing research and did not support any new research.

John Kerry supports lifting the ban on stem cell research. Given the enormous promise of stem cells to the development of new treatments for the most devastating diseases, John Kerry believes our medical researchers should be permitted and encouraged to simultaneously pursue embryonic stem cell research. As president, he will overturn the ban on federal funding of research on new stem cell lines, and he will allow doctors and scientists to explore their full potential with the appropriate ethical oversight. Patients and their families should no longer be denied the hope that this new research brings.

I think, GoodDad, that Kerry will follow the recommendations of the Scientific Community in this and other matters. He doesn't have to pander to the foaming fundie element. If anything, much of his support comes from the opposite end of the spectrum...

In short, we'll likely see a return to sanity on the level of all kinds of research and information dissemination, across the entire spectrum of health issues... He is, after all, a Godless Democrat.... a semi-lapsed Catholic... the worst of the worst... He actually thinks that the Constitution supercedes his own religious beliefs... He shares a common heresy with Paine, Jefferson, Washington and others...

Oh great, just what we need: logic and intelligence.

The OP purposefully tried to steer this thread clear of the debate. While I agree with your point, I don't think this was helpful.

You're right, Monsta Thrilla. I get carried away.

I do think, however, that a candidate's stand on a particular issue is shaped by and consistent with deeper philosophical issues, not to be ignored or treated lightly.
