You need a resume for a $10/hour job. I remember making that much back in 2001 at Best Buy from just doing the online application.

^ what they said.

Why not look for internships or something that's actually career valuable, as opposed to yet another retail job?

Technical Skills

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint.

You need to learn to use a spell checker. Also, I'd add the date you graduated from High School. Employers like to see a full history, with no unexplained gaps.

I had to LOL at "Great Team Hero" :D

OP, you're resume is fine / If you are looking to work at another store like best buy, walmart, etc. they aren't going to be very picky.

seriously.

If you have some minor security experience you can pick up your "guard card" for like...i think it's ~$150 (have a few friends who work security)

You will get like $12/hr starting roughly with your guard card, sometimes more like $14/hr.

It's not hard at all, I have one friend who had 0 security experience and got a $14/hr full time job just by having a guard card. Not too bad for a entry level security job.

Honestly, it looks like you're more qualified to be a mall security guard than the Best Buy sales drone. Maybe even a bouncer if you're a big guy.

Nothing wrong with that... the mall cop job probably pays better, and you don't have to be nice to annoying customers. You can kick them out :)

Thanks for the tip, but I already have the Oregon Equivalent. DPSST training is the guard card here. It's actually the law to have one here and the only jobs that pay that well are at hospitals and what not. I'll be applying there as well as other places.

Mall security guards are paid terribly. I know a few and they make just over minimum wage. No joke.

Yeah, things are different these days. Everyone seems to want the full job portfolios, even for minimum wage. Some of these places require you to do more to get the job than professional positions do!

Remember your resume is just a place to briefly summarize your skills and experience. Nail it in the cover letter. And remember to keep everything SHORT AND SWEET. Busy people won't read long stuff.
