Wow those models are something else, very cool. >>
Yes, those
models are tres cool. Now that the structure of the whole place has been built, I'm pleasantly surprised at just how accurate the model is. The main difference between the model and reality is in the model all the rooftop terrace access is via big transparent trap doors which double as sky lights. You can best see the trap doors in
this model picture. However, for the places already built, a lot of them don't have that trap door, but instead have a little insulated shed like structure on the roof with a standard door (sort of like what you see in all those movies when they have a chase seen onto the roof). It reduces the terrace size a bit and you lose the skylight, but the benefit is you get some sheltered storage space up there too.

You are running the cat5 now whils its still being built, right? >>
No, and I am very annoyed. They won't put it in even though several people have asked for it. It wasn't in the original plans and they said they could not justify the added delay to the project. Ironically, I actually have about 1000 feet of CAT-5 sitting under my bed, because at work, the electricians were about to throw it away. It's in 100 ft strips - not of much use to them. I can't do it myself (not that I'd know what I'm doing) because for legal reasons they won't allow any non-site worker types into the place. It would also violate my warranty on the home, but when I offered to hire a professional they still would not allow it. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise, because I've always wanted a wireless network anyway.
Around here actually, networking is becoming a MAJOR selling point. In fact, there is a set of luxury condos going up nearby called
CityPlace which is getting fibre-optic cabling throughout the entire complex and 100BaseT to every unit. :Q It's funny reading the
Technology section about their condos - it reads more like a high-tech company's press release than anything. They even get set top boxes and wireless keyboards in EVERY unit with video on demand and all sorts of cool schiznit. They'll be paying up the yinyang for condo fees though. I'm guessing my condo fees will be a third of theirs, heheh.

One question -- that is one kick-ass digital camera, how much did it cost and what brand was it? >>
The digital camera is a 3 MP Kodak DC4800 as wje pointed out. It's pretty damn sweet.

Those model pix were taken in TIFF mode (9 MB a shot), and then resized. You can also use JPEG (which I do most of the time) but the one problem I have is that the JPEG compression modes use a bit too much compression for my tastes. Most of the pix in JPEG mode are around 650 KB. I would have preferred about 1 MB although they're still pretty good, since the real pix were taken in JPEG mode. As for the barrel distortion, that's really a problem only if I have a the extra wide angle lens attached. I think the camera lists for $700 down there in Americaland.
