Well now what....
Should I go to bed or do something nuts like try to get a old a$$ computer running from spare parts so I can attempt to play tie fighter? (or another option)
DosBOX FTW.
Tried to get that working... my A64 3200+ with a gig of ram is not fast enough for tie fighter on it
You have the emulation set too slow.
What do you mean? I think it's been a few months since I tried this... I messed around with skipping frames and such.
My CPU load was at 100% and then I lowered frames/settings down until I was hovering at 90% load or so... at that point it was unplayable.
you need to adjust cycles, not framerate. if you set the cycles too high the game will run poorly too. I've been able to get most games to run but some games require special settings to get them to work properly.
I'm pretty sure I messed around with whatever I could. I had a guide I was following that showed how to optimize stuff.
I have an old computer in my closet right now anyway. I think I'll just try to get that running before I mess around too much with trying to get it to run on my main rig.
The Microsoft sidewinder usb cable isn't even long enough to reach from my computer to the seating area in front of my projector, so even if I do get it to work I'm kind of screwed on my main rig.
I've wanted to play Tie Fighter on a huge screen since 1994 when I was 11 :Q
