So have you been wondering how well the Geforce 8800 GT overclocks ?

Are there any external exhaust dual slot coolers that fit this guy, like the silencer series? I read something about anything that fits a 7800gtx fitting them but that was hearsay on the forum...don't know which of the 12 reviews to look for it in! Heh.

I'm sure the big companies like Arctic Cooling will come out with one eventually.

AFA coolers from 7800/7900/whatever series fitting the 8800GT: The only way to be sure is to have one of each card in your hand and test fit it.

The two main measurements would be the distance b/t the four heatsink mounting holes AND the height of the top of the GPU core. Just b/c the holes of the heatsink line up doesn't mean that the bottom plate of the cooler will sit flush on top of the GPU.

Isn't it FUN being a PC Enthusiast? :p

Crap..nice OC. I just got mine and it is at only 684/1728/2074. This is the reference XFX model. It looks like this card will be pencil moddable on both the GPU and Memory so I should get 745/2200 soon. :) I turned up the fan speed to 75%. Any higher and there is an audible whine. It idles at 45C and hits 62C in ATItool.

What does the temps in rivatuner say? Ati tool displays lower gpu temperature for me than rivatuner does.

Pencil Mod to what bridges and where? AFAIK (and I don't know much) the 8800GT is a new PCB design. So, how do you know where all the voltage/multiplier/etc bridges are when the card just came out yesterday?

Go to the Xtreme Systems forum. They are gathering data now. They believe you can mod both. It is a different PCB design than the other 8800's and the GPU resistor is supposedly of a higher resistance. ATITool and Rivatuner showed the same temps for me.

The fan defaults to 29% that is why the reviews show it to be hot. There is plenty of fan speed headroom to run it as cool as an aftermarket HSF or at least close enough to not justify the expense/risk.
