Pretty fun game I must say, nothing like blasting hundreds of bugs at once!

Looks very nice too, I think they did an excellent job with the graphics for having so much activity on the screen.

The game however feels like it runs slowly on my SLI rig. I'm playing 1280x1024 all settings maxed 4x/16x AA/AF.

The weird part about it is, it feels slow even if I turn down settings and drop the AA to 2xQ and the AF to 8X.

The weirdest part is that if I set the graphics options to the max and use 4x TRSSAA or 4x TRMSAA the game feels the same as with settings dumbed down and 2xQ AA.

Is this a problem with the SWARM engine? ANyone else experienced this? Assuming anoyone's played it..

PS.

If anyone has played it, can I get some tips on how to kill the Royal Warrior Bug in "The Two Bridges" level? I seriously spent an hour today using ammo cheats and god mode dumping probably 1000 rockets into his "weakness" and he never went down.

Thanks

The demo was lame. It's a lot better overall then that level.

It's a B+ game of a B movie.

It's really kinda fun though, after serious games like COD2 and FEAR, it's nice just to go out there blast away!

The cutscenes and the voice acting are really cheesedick though. I jsut lower the volume or skip the cutscenes.

My brother tried the demo on a 7800GTX with everything cranked up I guess... It ran very fluently... Seeing all those bugs is actually pretty funny, but seeing how those bugs can't kill an infantry soldier after having smashed 10 times on it, looked really dumb...

Only way to make the game plausible i guess. Dont forget you're not just ANY infantry soldier... you're a Maurader! Special armor suit, blah blah blah :D

Wasn't talking about myself, but I just tried to do nothing and watch all the "action" go on... Well, it was pretty boring to watch... :p There was no suspense or thrill...

I was meaning to buy it but based on negative feedback I've been staying away from it because I've been burned by a few bad games lately.

I think I'll wait for the price to drop.

:D

I've had bad results in the software forum, plus I'm having the slow down issue so it was half appropriate for video.

I dont know why it feels so slow. SHouldnt on SLI, my load temps dont go above 63*C while FEAR punishes the GT in the top slot with 79*C load so it can't be taxing the cards THAT bad.

I jsut dont understand why lowering settings feels just as slow as raising settings.

Almost sounds like a CPU issue.

no, it IS appropriate for Video . . . however, there are many AT gamers who never visit Video that DO post in SW/Games . . . i was just thinking you would get a wider audience for your problem

have you tried dropping the resolution? . . . just to see 'what happens'

Nope, haven't, my LCD will explode in my face if I make it run at 1024x768 like I made it run D3 with a 9700np me thinks ;)

i meant windowed mode or full screen "free AA/AF fuzzies"
- just as a 'test'

Are there any "issues" in the readme or on the developers site?

Do you have the latest patch?

edit:
oops old one :p

try here

FRAMERATE ISSUES:

The options that most effect speed and quality are: ?Model Shadows?, ?Video Mode? and ?Shader Quality?. ?Dynamic Lighting? can also have a big effect on lower spec PCs. If you want to increase the speed of ?Starship Troopers? we suggest that you lower these settings first.

Texture Quality:

We recommended the following settings depending on the ram on your graphics card:

128 MB = Low/Med (depending on the speed of your graphics card).
256 MB + = High

Adaptive Quality should only be turned off by the advanced user.
This allows individual control of model and effects quality by the user.

Shadows Note:
Shadows are very intensive on hardware. It is advised that you lower the video resolution if you desire shadows.

?Starship Troopers? is a very advanced software product and contains graphical scenes of great complexity.'Starship Troopers? includes options that can be adjusted to improve the performance of the software if you encounter any issues regarding slowdown / sound or graphical errors. If these issues cannot be rectified using the settings / updates that we recommend then you may have to review the available resource on your PC or the hardware specifications / drivers.
