There's an Affiliate at the top who doesn't know how to use whole sentences in a post.

There's now an Affiliate forum... populated by that one affiliate..

and now.. spam from ForumAdmin advertizing said affiliate... and it sounds like it was written by a 2-year old.


btw.. the "affiliate in question is: Draglift.com - Watch movies and TV Shows online free "
 
I suppose it's possible, but it would be out of character for Anandtech to have such an affiliate. They sure do sound fishy.. Here's their disclaimer:

This looks really shady, and I'll go with the "we got hacked" theory.
 
I guess we should be glad that all the person is doing is advertising. Could be a lot worse if they exercised the full weight of admin powers.
 
Well... they could be "testing" the powers...

The fact that it hasn't been corrected, and according to one of the links, the Admins are aware of it... scares me.

Can the Admins really not stop or reverse a hack on the forum?

i mean.. we know their DBA's are incompetent, since the forums keep crashing (or crashed) nightly.

Are the admins as well?

On the plus side.. since the forum was "hacked" .. it hasn't crashed. Maybe the hacker knows how to run a Database?
 
All hail our new spammer overlords. I'm off to watch some videos on their website. I suggest you all do the same.
 
As I was saying in a previous post the thing they have fucked up the most isn't necessarily the vB upgrade so much as COMUNICATION!!! Tell us WTF is going on! Let us know what each maintenance period is for, what mistakes have been made. If they don't know WTF is going on the TELL US THAT TOO!! Otherwise this is just one big free for all!
 
The hackers may have messed with the wrong boards...

I am sure there will be some sort of backlash 🙂

Seriously though, I did see that ad "announcement" this morning and thought it was extremely out-of-place and kind of shady.

Edit: Does this mean that iPod Man will be making his triumphant return?!
