So happy!

I just got gentoo to boot up properly on my main rig

This might not sound so significant for a lot of you, but I've been having troubles for a few months now.

The solution: download/compile the latest kernel.

Apparantly 2.6.11.2 was not the right one to get.

2.6.11.7 works just beautifully though.

wtf are you talkin about?

Oh...just installed a linux distro I was having problems with.

Didn't know till just now that the problem was with the kernel version itself.

i hate gentoo 😛

btw, you should know to use the latest kernel 😕 😛

Yeah I was thinking the same thing...not to TC though...

But you could have installed DSL about 30 times within the amount of time you took to compile and emerge your initial system install...

Not to count the amount of time you used up on your recompiling...DSL works for me...

/yay for self and DSL...

what is DSL?

PS: The reason why i spent countless time getting gentoo to work....

I love that distro, it is by far my favorite linux distro out there....

I'm even thinking of removing arch linux off my laptop and just put gentoo on there

ATOT stands for AnandTech OFFTOPIC. It's not really a prerequisite to know such things.

but people shouldn't venture to ATOT if they don't plan on talking about tech topics, because the general stuff often finds itself here.

AT = AnandTech
ATOT = Anand Tech Off Topic

Off Topic = a subject other than the intended one.

Anyhow, im into the Hardware side of a computer, not the software side......so why is it wrong for me to '?' what the OP said......If his thread was posted in software/OS thread section where it should have been then i wouldnt have had to '?' it would i?
