So, got my absentee ballot today...disaster

Got my absentee ballot today. Can you say...hanging chads? Its the oldskool punchout cards and the chads are pretty bad...I've had to delicately tear each one off to make sure its punched.

Nevermind the chads...this thing is just BEGGING for mistakes. First off, the instructions are incomplete. The ballot cannot be counted unless I complete a statement and sign it in front of two witnesses, but the lines for their signatures are so small its easy to miss. Also, they didn't give some of the info I need to put in the statement. Do they want my current address or NC precinct address? What is my precinct number (I have four district numbers but which is precinct #??) Who is an appropriate witness?

Then, nowhere does it say how many ballots I'm actually supposed to have. It came with five ballot cards, which are numbered 2, 35, 58, 59, 60. Why not include a 'contents' list so I know that I got everything I need?

Whatever...I'm just glad I can do my civic duty and get my vote counted early. Here's to all my fellow absentee voters...

I don't want to pop your bubble, but your absentee ballot will not be counted early. It will be counted at the same time as all the other ballots on election day.

Have another beer and dream of a world without war or hate.

fun. i guess i'm lucky in cali. my absentee doesn't have chads. u just draw in lines connecting arrows. and only sign your own signature. been this way for atlesat the last two elections.
