Tom's hardware has seen the closed booth demo's of HL2 at E3.

But again, graphically, Half-Life 2 won't impress those who have already played through Far Cry and Unreal Tournament 2004.

However

This year's Half-Life 2 demos were more geared toward showing how the storyline and physics affected gameplay than just the eye candy itself.

Which means, to me, much more than just graphics.

And, speaking of release, at the end of the E3 demos, the Valve presenter let us know that everything would be coming out this summer. Hallelujah!

Graphics help but aren't everything, I'm looking forward to HL2 regardless. From what I've seen it's seemed like d3 would look a bit better anyway.

Would be pretty sweet if they included CS 2.0 or whatever with HL2 like the guy was sort of alluding to.

For me graphics take a backseat to gameplay and longevity (mods!).

But what I've seen of HL2 looks great.

What is the latest on this? Are we going to have to pay more for CS, DoD, and TF Classic? I'm betting they'll sell the updated version of the original as a standalone product, but I'm not sure about the mods. I'm hoping you'll be able to buy everything in one package.

Graphics don't really matter that much to me either. As long as the graphics are decent, I'll take gameplay anyday.

I'll believe it when I have the box in my hands. :D

I'm gathering the point of first post is to say hl2 with own0rz far cry for gameplay even though (shock, horror) it might not be any better or possibly even not quite as good graphically?

Who doesn't like Far Cry's gameplay? :Q I like it better at the moment simply because I can actually own & play it (*taps foot, glares at Valve*) All joking aside, I think Far Cry is a great game regardless of graphics, and I'm obviously not alone, judging by its popularity. That's not to say it's without its faults - it's a bit gimpy for enemies to notice you crawling through the bushes at night from a quarter mile away, and I have yet to meet someone in real life who can get shot 5 times in the head and still make inane comments to me ;) ie. It's a wee bit too hard on the easier settings, imo. I'd still rate it a 5/5 though. Someone should start a poll...
