this gotta be the best money I've ever spent on an electronic gadget. This Senn has lasted me for 5 years but the cable has finally gave up

so looks like I will need to get this:

after shipping and tax, it came up to $25. Now before I reluctantly press the "Add to Cart" button, anyone got any suggestion to fix this?

basically, as i heard this is quite a notorious sennheiser problem, the headphone get disconnected and I had to readjust the "red" and "black" plugs (look at the Zoomed pic in the link above). I did that for years, and now the terminals are beyond fubar to be fixed.
