So far, not very impressed with the Belkin Pre-N Router

From all the rave reviews, thought i could swap out my DI-624 with the Belkin Pre-N to help throw a signal further in my house, mainly upstairs.

So far, not impressed.

I cant get connected above 24Mbps upstairs, SNR shows the same as my DI-624

SNR should be the same since the output power of the Mimo is Not higher than the 802.11g.

Mimos are Not very effective indoor, if there are obstructions that kills the signal, they kill the Mimo as well, and thus No gain.

So are all the reports of significantly improved range all placebo?

People seem to rave about this routers ability to throw signals further in houses.

Ok well now this is weird.

Hop on my Mac-Mini upstairs, shows an excellent signal.

Browse the net for 5 mins, suddenly the wifi signal disappears. Check the laptop, same, router seems to have dissappeared.

Restart the router, all is good for 3-4 mins, then bam, gone again.

Is it any worse than standard cause i just got one and its my first wifi router (IE not an upgrade). Should i take it back or will it be just fine for my purposes? (one computer no more than 50-100 feet from router)

Well my old D-Link used to have to be reset every 1-2 days...

For some reason, the Belkin stops outputting Wifi every 3-10 minutes, requiring a reboot of the router.

Do you think thats all of them or just yours? (it sounds stupid but i've got to ask. Is it really that bad?) Also, if you don't have a MIMO/Pre-N card, you can only see a 20% increase in range from this router. It still a bit of an increase.

I can tell you not all Belkins do this, as mine does not. But, it's a regular G router. Signal dies after 30 feet, though. That's 2 walls and no signal. I bought a 50 ft wire.

Prolly just mine, i have yet to get it to work properly though. Its going back tomm...
