I read that AIM is now sending encrypted packets to clients every so often and only the AIM client can respond correctly and that theyre banning accounts that fail to send so many packets back. However in the same place I read that TW said that until they allow support for other clients they cannot use any video conferencing with their client. I am very confused anyone have any ideas on this?

i wish there was more IM formatting options.....italics, bold, etc. just seems kludgish....i want to be able to format my away messages and profile in the same manner as the messages but I don't see a way to do that in gaim for windows?

also, i wish that when i'm away, the away message wouldn't take a spot on the taskbar. i can minimize gaim to the system tray, and regular AIM puts the away message in the corner of the desktop i think...why can't i hide the away message in gaim?

It can't be everything for everybody. I like being able to force the font I see. It should be 10pt Arial, black on white background, by God! But even so, bothing is stopping you from using any styles you want in the away message. Works fine for me.

If you're at the computer, why make it go away? Personally, I like it, as I can undo it instead of appearing to be 'away' for hours and never notice it.

IMO, the original AIM client is superior than GAIM.

sure, it has the add thing on top, and doesn't provide tabbed chatting (a feature that I dislike anyways), but it has a much more professional feel to it. I use GAIM at work, and just enjoy it less than regular AIM.

never been a fan of Trillian, but I only use AIM. if I used Yahoo or ICQ in addition to AIM, I could see its uses, but beyond that... meh.

Ads I can deal with, and kept with plain AIM with ads.
Sound in ads is a no-no. At that point they are intrusive, not to mention the fact that they are painful.
