Does it work yet ? Ive been playing through again, and hate the jaggies.

Ive googled for information, but seem to be only coming up with older posts about the topic.

So has AA been added yet ? I'm using a single 6870. Oh, and I have the Steam version of Bioshock.

Antialiasing Support: By default BioShock does not support any Antialiasing (AA) to smooth out jagged lines. The reason the game doesn't support AA natively is because it uses a form of rendering called Deferred Lighting, which is supposed to be incompatible with Antialiasing in DX9.
Quick solution:

For ATI users, you can only force AA in XP or Vista if you rename your Bioshock.exe file to Oblivion.exe, make sure Catalyst AI is activated in your Catalyst Control Center, and then right-click on your BioShock launch icon, select Properties and in the Target box add -dx9 one space after the end of the line and click OK, similar to the example above.
other options:
MLAA

It may be possible to allow AA under DX10 according to the developers of the Unreal Engine 3, but this will likely require a patch and if this occurs I will update this section accordingly.
Im not sure if there are patches that allow you to use AA in this game with higher Directx than just 9 mode.

note there was no opdate to that page about patches, but there might be. I only just did a quick google search for AA+bioshok to find this.

****** SO far both AMD and NVIDIA cards can ONLY use AA in directx9 (with this game)
by useing odd methodes to force it.

Nope, nVidia can force AA from the driver in DX9/DX10 but only DX9 on ATi, though MLAA will obviously work because it works everywhere.

No odd methods are needed either.

Well, I have tried MLAA, jaggies look identical. Even in screenshots comparing the two settings.

Ill post up some screens here shortly.

EDIT: Should it be ran on "use application settings" and just apply MLAA ?

Uncheck the "use application settings" box, check the mlaa box and reboot pc.

1. Leave the "use application settings" box checked - this option is only for the regular AA
2. Put a check mark next to MLAA
3. MLAA is not visible on screenshots
4. The reboot is only needed if it's the first time you're trying to use MLAA after a driver update

Ah, so thats why I dont notice in screenies then. And no, it's not the first time using MLAA.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I seen someone here before post a screenshot of Borderlands with MLAA on, and it did show a big difference. Or is it just Bioshock that doesn't show ? Another thing, is this the same way things are in Bioshock 2 as well ?

Some programs can take screenshots and keep the MLAA effect. I know for sure that RadeonPro has that option, but I'm not sure how exactly it's accomplished. Just another reason I think this an extremely great piece of software for AMD owners.

It was me :p If you run the game windowed and use the snipping tool to make the screen capture, then it will show. You're not really making a screenshot then (grabbing straight from the framebuffer, which is before the MLAA is applied) but just snipping part of your desktop.
