So do you think they will foolishly rebuild New Orleans again

About 40 years ago, a category 4 storm hit and left a devastating mess in New Orleans.

Now Katrina has done the same thing.

Why can't they just lighten up and relocate the whole damn city? The geography there is begging for mother nature's asskicking- time and time again.

What will they do now? Rebuilt all that shiit again with sweat and blood only to have it completely demolished 30-60 years from today? Also think about human LIVES!

that's like asking

"Why do people in Cuba and Florida keep rebuilding themselves?"

"Why do Texans still build even after getting hit by Tornados and hailstorms?"

QFT

Well...there are many reasons why ppl stay where they are. For example....villages would rather stay near on an active volcano, although the risk is iffy, but the resources (talking about soil and minerals) are priceless. Perhaps, if you see louisiana's impact to the economy (especially on gas) has a definite place in America..heck...why calilfornians stay on an earth quake area..

I wonder if this question has been asked before? 😉

No, New Orleans is far better precise case. NO is not a STATE like Texas or FL. And it certainly isn't a country like Cuba.

The whole damn area of NO is below sea level, right next to the funnel-shaped gulf that is begging for trouble.

They do NOT have to built a metropolis so damn close to the shore and low in altitude.

OMG, you still persist to miss my point. Texans, Floridans, Cubans and Japanese have NO choice but to live and flourish with what they have. New Orleans is just one particular city, they do NOT have to CHOOSE to build the city there again!

Ok, here's a less serious answer, CAUSE THEN WHERE WOULD WE CELEBRATE MARDI GRAS? It was mainly celebrated at NO anyways..

Like those drunk college chicks and paid-actresses care about the authenticity of Mardi Gras... They'll find reasons to flash their boobs everywhere else.

ok, how about Venice? The rise in global sea levels over the past century has resulted in an increase in the mean sea level at Venice of over three inches since 1897.

and many cities in holland? yes that country that makes nasty iodine salty candy. (candy?!?! it's got no sugar in it, it's salty plus liquid concentrate of salt)

Mardi Gras is an important part of the local culture. Not having Mardi Gras would be like not having Christmas.

It's also celebrated all along the gulf coast, from New Orleans to Biloxi to Mobile. It's a major holiday.
