the new canon looks like a worn down bar of soap.

the fuji looks a bit more pocketable and a bit more visible if you drop it in the water, as the color covers the whole camera. unless you get a black one. probably hard to see.
 
I have an Olympus 1030SW. I took it river rafting and it survived several dunks in the water with no issues.

The cameras by themselves don't float. I purchased Olympus's accessory float strap which also works with no issues.
 
What kind of waterproof camera are you referring to? I have an SD870 with the waterproof enclosure. The enclosure itself floats because of the air trapped inside. They sell weights for it to keep it not as buoyant.
