So do people on Ebay make thier money from Shipping?

i was getting a new dell 19 in, thinking maybe ill ebay it (bc there is a good price in hot deals on it) and was surprised that on ebay they were selling it for the same price i was getting it for. So i was like well, maybe im not getting as good a deal as i think

upon further inspection, i was getting free shipping ($13.00-$13.00 @ dell) but these fetchers on ebay are charging $45-65 for shipping! WTF? i never use ebay, but is this how they do it? lure you in then pwn you on shipping?

They list the shipping price in the auction and then they "pwn" the ever-so-suspecting bidders. That's how they sort of circumvent ebay's fees.

I charge $19.99 for shipping hard drives. That's because I'll spend like $10 shipping it and another $4 packaging it and another many minutes driving to Longs Drugs to get it boxed + packed for you.

I used to charge $14 when it only cost me $10 to do pack-my-self shipping but the lines at teh post office... ><

Yes I make a few bucks back, but I spend enough effort shipping my packages in a good fashion

The only thing I hate about gross shipping charges is when someone demands $15 and all they do is ship it first class, costing them around $1.50 w/ packaging.

Other than that I don't mind.

Same with poker chips. I know those can be heavy but 40 dollars for shipping is ridiculous

Lots of them do. I was looking for a belt clip for my cell phone. Bought one for $0.99 on ebay and paid $4.95 in shipping. On the package it said the perosn only actually paid like $0.67 for shipping.
