Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.80GHz
1GB of Ram
Radeon 9200

It's over five years old. :(

Building a new one quite soon. Quadrupling the CPU and the Memory. The graphic card isn't even comparable.

This was exactly my gaming computer about 5 years ago. Crazy!

Just pulled the last single core PC out of the ones I keep an eye on - my moms A64 3700+ :) Solid CPU on a solid SLI board, only swapped because I didn't have any DDR to take it up to 2GB for windows 7 and I was able to use a $20 EVGA board and a $30 FS/FT 3800+ x2 and move to AM2/DDR2 which I have in abundance from the the $20 4GB kit days...

After constantly upgrading every six months (1700+ Axp, 2500+ Axp, 3000+ A64 754, 3700+ 754 A64, 3000+ A64 939, 165 A64 939, on and on) I have been stuck on this q6700 for 3 years and I am still having a really hard time justifying spending money on a new processor. The q6600 investment around $200 is about as good as sinking in on a 3000+ A64 S754 and milking that until Core2.

Anyone else "stuck" on a Core 2 Quad?

Kinda crappy... I can see where you may want to get everything out of it but damn.... not what I would expect from a shit-hot PC tech. Can't you get parts on the cheap?

My main rig is an x2 4200+ w/ 2GB. About 2 years ago I was on an A64 3200+ newegg cleared out the last of the 939s for super cheap so I decided to pick up the dual core and milk it for as long as I could. The 3200+ went into a spare board and is now my HTPC. Theyre both due for an upgrade but I got a laptop instead for my main system so it may be awhile.

Reallly? How does a 1.8GHz Core 2 stutter on Youtube HD? The CPU should be powerful enough just to handle it by itself. On my 2.4GHz Core 2 it was using 20% CPU running 1080p Youtube.

*bow* to the person running the Pentium MMX as the main rig.

Yeah sounds like a video driver problem TBH. Even the slowest core2duo's are fast, relatively speaking of course and can be overclocked like champs.

Rodson , I feel for you I was in the same boat in Nov 2007 .

Well mine was WC full black case open. Both the CPU and the ASUS x800xt pe which I payed 600 dollars for in 2004 under water. Up until Nov 21st 2007 when I upgraded as you can see in my rig sig. I was running a ASUS A78NX-e deluxe lol 2GB RAM and that precious x800 card with 120GB HD . Oh the CPU was a ubber AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OCed to 2500Mhz lol,

Pull the trigger soon jrodson pull the trigger next year when prices will fall even more.
All you need is about 600 dollars for a system that will be 1000x times faster and more powerful then what you have. Youll never see the CPU usage go all way to 100 percent, no matter what the clock speed. Get yourself a nice i7 920 quad 8GB RAM Geforce 460 and a good ASUS mobo. Its not that much and also DO NOT buy from newegg. They sell used and refursbhised stuff labeled as new. Horrible,, buy from Amazon... Can't wait to hear that you did this upgrade soo I can feel happy for you. gl and GB

LOL. It's a jake-rigged HP a1330n (Athlon 3800+).

I'm literally drooling at upgrading but just can't afford it right now. :(

Any one using something more pathetic as their main machine?

For office use I still run half a dozen HP dx5150 w/ Athlon 3800+ and 2-4GB RAM - they fly with Windows 7, I'm telling you.

I'm an immigrant and I swear I'm not 100% sure what are you trying to say here... you bought your stuff in some underwater shop?:hmm: Or just the seller was scuba diving when you went to pay...? :D
