And what did that accomplish exactly?

Well luckily a long time ago, the founding fathers foresaw that in the event that filthy laws that's created by the filthy swine(and I don't mean OWS protestors), the states may call a constitutional convention to ratify an amendment.

This is a first clear step towards that, thanks to the smelly, uneducated, unemployed idiots who bummed for months in the rain to fight against this corruption.

I think it definitely had a few positive moments. The biggest thing they've accomplished is instilling fear into the public that brutes can in fact leave their cages and cause a bit of public havok costing them potentially tens of millions of dollars, which has its trickle down effect into their hard earned money..assuming they pay any taxes at all.. That and the fact that they've brought up a long and almost extinct notion where some people actually make more money than others and that there is even class separation within the 99% which MANY of them are totally surprised about.

It made a lot of people look like entitled deadbeats with little understanding of the real world, but not much else.

It gives Obama a convenient "disparity" springboard for every reelection speech he makes...

I guess that we shouldn't be surprised that an organization like OWS that really had no agreed upon goals didn't really accomplish much.

Oh well... at least the private security companies and pepper spray manufacturers made a profit off of it.

Love them or hate them, at least the Tea Party movement actually knows what they're trying to do... even though the people they elected are probably doing more harm than good.

My hope is that it made more people realize that our government is owned by corporations and rich people, and does not represent the best interests of the average citizens. How well that idea has been communicated, I'm not sure.

Despite the media successfully convincing the public that OWS is nothing more than a group of worthless loser hippies asking for government handouts, OWS have actually made some VERY WORTHWHILE accomplishments! SURPRISE SURPRISE!

http://www.examiner.com/human-rights-in-national/no-more-corporate-personhood-la-unanimous

Los Angeles has voted to end corporate personhood that has been robbing Americans of their representation in democracy. This is a much needed first step as they propose a constitutional amendment, where the legislators would obviously fall short, given them being the direct benefactors of corporate sponsorship.

OWS should stay strong until the rest of America's cities follow LA's lead in putting this amendment in place.

LMAO The Washington Post had multiple daily laudatory articles about the OWS including a full page map of their camp in DC while ignoring and downplaying anything negative they were doing.

If they did not already know it, they have not been paying attention at all and OWS probably did nothing to educate those people.

I also wonder if the number of people who might have been educated outnumbered the people who the only thing they "learned" was that OWSers are idiots.

I guess the late 1960's are so far in memory that they had to remind us that liberal hippie douches are ill informed, annoying, and useless. If they would just spend a little time looking at themselves they would realize the true cause of their anger.

You sire are are ill informed, annoying, and useless

This. "The 99%" is now part of the public lexicon, and it hi-lites what is a very serious and growing problem in this country

uh, whatever. It was a small, fringe element that the media and far-left wing politicians and Hollywood loved. Nothing more.

It gave a bunch of worthless, lazy twats somewhere to complain.

I know what the OWS movement was trying to do, but 80% of the people there were just there because they wanted to blame their problems on someone else.

Not really, The majority of them were Trustafarians who wanted to experience a 1960s type event. They blew off steam, had fun and collected a cool half a million (Which would make for decent trading capital).

They will go back to college end in a few years work corporate America. Just like the folks in the 1960s who did the whole summer of love, hippy tune out shit.

OWS was just typical idle upper middle class youth doing the rebellion thing.

BTW: anyone know what happened to the 500K cash collected?

People got together and realized other people out there feel the same way as they do and that will be important in the future if/when the economy gets worse or the middle class continues to decline.

It also showed me how much the media actually slanders or ignores certain people or events. This whole ignoring Ron Paul at Iowa (regardless of if you think he is a viable candidate), and different bias on OWS articles etc has been an eye opener. They tried any angle they could to discredit them. One person in the camp got an STD? Dirty hippies. Crime within the tent area? OWS is a bunch of jobless thugs. If you have half a brain it was interesting to see the police, media, and cities mobilize even if it was at a very low level.

A huge wake up call about the media is to read or see a story about something you have firsthand knowledge. This happened to me a couple times and I was shocked as to how wrong (purposely or negligently) the stories were.

Personaly a lot of the real world sucks, hence the protesting. Every little change helps. I applaud folks who can do this. But for now I would rather have the un-real world.
