Actually from reports it seemd that Newgg alone had more for luanch then anybody has gotten of the XT. Ask people here how many got the 512 and you will get a dozen or so, I have only seen three or four total say they have a XT, and that thing has been announced for over a month and "available" for 2 weeks yet is also sold out.

We checked some etailers and learned that hundreds or cards where swiped in less than a two day, where majority were sold on the day one already.

No reasons to worry - we spoke to many people and learned that there will be plenty of those cards next week.

I was able to ad 35 to my card, but not 36. And I got there well after they went up for sale. So I was late and they were probably selling them like crazy as the vultures were sitting there watching the egg's site hitting the refresh button every 1/2 second to see it as soon as it was available.

Seriously, I consider this card availible. But it seems like some people have contradicted earlier statements that said that if they can't get it in their local store, it isn't "launched" and is just paper. Funny how things change when their company of choice falters a little.

The initial rush is always the most straining for stocking. You rather not make enough than make too many. The initial rush can also give you a better idea how much future production you will need. The last thing anyone wants is to be stuck with inventory.

If after a few weeks, the supply is still not there...the manufacturer is to blame.

HERE IS WHY Nvidia set such a high price for its up and coming Geforce 7800 GTX 512 MB cards. Nvidia has set the suggested retail price to $649 as it will make this card in limited numbers.

Its a brilliant marketing and sales move as Nvidia will always have these cards in the stores as it will be very expensive for most people, but if you want to get the fastest card you will gave to buy the Geforce 7800 GTX 512 MB card.

Our story was confirmed by several sources and we learned that Taiwanese companies could sell many more of these cards but can get just a handfull of chips. It?s a limited product and it's meant to be limited.

Sources close to Nvidia commented that if you can sell a product, whatever the price, it means it's not too expensive and our readers confirmed that some of them will go for those cards while the majority thinks it's ridiculously expensive.

So these cards will always be available as not many people will go out and buy them and will help Nvidia to keep up the performance crown.

I don't think these 512's will be anywhere near the availability the GTX was. I think it will be good, but not great.

By the way, I know your sarcasm was in jest above, but even so, it was not necessary to provoke anyone because some will take it as so. IMHO.

Weren't there reports of excellent yields on this new G70 spin? Almost as good as the original G70? Anyway, if the words "out of stock" make you fellas happy, then I'm happy for you to.

Well with me being critical of some calling the X1800XT "available" in a past thread I would also have to say that - no, the 512MB GTX is not what I would call available. For me, I need many e-tailors to have at least 2-3 companies(EVGA, PNY, etc.) to have enough quanity to last for a week or more to say an item is available.(Don't care about B+M stores-I think 90+ percent of people who would buy a card like this do so online). I do think though that Nvidia did a better job at trying to meet my definition of available. I guess well see who follows up better with enough cards for sale in quanity so prices at least hit MSRP.
