It never grows old. I dvr'ed it and plan on watching it again. Im not a particularly religious person, but i love when Linus explains the meaning of christmas to Charlie Brown. Just an excellent show in my book.

Taped it back when I was like 8 years old when I first saw it on TV. Great little memory from childhood.

and here's testimony to that, 😀

I bought the DVD set of all the Charlie Brown holiday specials. One of the best purchases I ever made.

i love the way they dance.

this is one of the best Christmas specials ever. right up there with Frosty and Rudolph.

i do believe there was a thread on this last night, but who cares! it deserves two

i try to imitate all the dancers one by one. 😀

I have pretty much all the C. Brown DVDs... my kids LOVE them. In fact St. Nick brough them a stuff. Charlie Brown, snoopy and Woodstock Monday night.
What's funny is how harsh those shows actually are. What they say to eachother "blockhead" "stupid" "punch you" etc.... it just wouldn't fly in today's PC world. I had to correct my 4 and 2 yr olds a few times from using those phrases (while I turned my head and laughed 🙂)

no doubt... the soundtrack is a Christmas staple at my house.

If you like the Christmas Special (there are actually 3 if I recall correctly) you gotta pick up the Valentine, Thanksgiving, Easter and other C. Brown specials. I remember them all from bieng a kid. All classics.

mosh: i'd like to see that... 🙂

how cool is it that your kids like it as much as you do?! that's great, i hope if i ever have kids that we can share something like that!

The one I saw last night was different than the one I remember. There was no pageant, and Charlie Brown didn't buy the tree.

There are 2 others... one is "I want a Dog for Christmas Charlie Brown" and is the most recent. There is one inbetween, that I have watched a billion times now (thanks kids) but I just cant think of it right now. All I know is Snoppy is dressed like Santa and honks a horn at people. It starts with Linus and Sally sledding in a box 😛

Its fantastic. Trick is getting them to ONLY watch the Christmas one(s) around Christmas time etc. Thats one of the problems with VHS/DVD/streaming video. When I was little shows like this were an E_V_E_N_T You had ONE crack at seeing it ONCE a year. No ifs-and-or-buts. You missed it, you waited 12 months to see it. That was part of its magic.

It was interesting...
I noticed the bad cuts (or more likely, CBS went to commericals at the wrong time) and the very long pauses between characters' actions or scripts. I guess we really are flash, bang, quick cuts and slammed jokes. I think if we sent Family Guy thirty years in the past, the kids back then would have had epileptic seizures or they wouldn't be fast enough to comprehend most of the jokes.
