So Demonoid is banned in Canada

There are legal torrents.

As for the OP, in short, no not really. You'll need to find one that allows secure connections/SSH in order to log in. Then it's possible they might block it in terms of your client, so you'll need to use one there, too. Most secure proxies are pay for use.

What's even funnier is people think proxies don't log transactions/requests.

Yes it will work, yes you are being monitored.

They're not using proxies to not get caught, they're using them to get access to the website. Demonoid won't do shit if they find out you really are Canadian, they just have to put up that notice because the CRIA is being a little bitch.

I found that a combination of encrypting the torrent packet headers (an option in bitcomet and utorrent (i think)) and using Tor as a proxy allowed me to use torrents at my uni. University connection + torrent = zooooom.

Fine.

Understand that you can and are likely to be recorded. That's one of the main purposes of proxies - to log everything you access. I won't touch or use them personally.

Quite right. Most things aren't worth using a proxy for.

To hell with Demonoid; lately most of their torrents are external anyways, so you might just as well be using ISOHunt or ThePirateBay.

Plus, they don't have porn...WTF?

Plus you'll suck up all the bandwidth.

I like the way they sort, and it has a strong community feel. =)

But it doesn't have as huge a stockpile of torrents, though it finds some nice niches.

You don't need a proxy to get the torrent traffic. Just go to a free proxy and log in to the site. Download the torrent and open normally. It works. You don't need to tunnel the torrent traffic over ssh or anything like that.

You need a proxy that will allow you to log in to websites, which most free proxies won't.
