So Dell sends me a ******** for free

So I call tech support for a client/friend I needed to fix their computer well I need to reinstall windows but the were missing drivers CD, I had the windows CD but the drivers CD was missing so I call to see if they could send me the drivers CD but in the mean time I downloaded the drivers from their website.

So when I get the Drivers CD the tech also sends me a Windows XP professional CD and manual sealed.

So I know I can use it only on a Dell computer but can I use it on ANY dell? For example can I buy a dell with no OS and use the one he sent me?

I think so. I believe the Dell OEM cds just check the BIOS for the "yes, this is a Dell" signal and then install.

i have a dell os that installed on my custom comp....but it probably does you no good without code.

It will work on other computers, we wanted some software from eMachines and they ended up sending us another copy of XP

When I did the format/reinstall of windows xp it didn't ask for a CD Key or code. So I guess I'm good too go with this copy.

Yeah, when I reinstall XP on my 700M with the OEM XP cd it doesn't ask for a code either.

You know what! what about the CD key? I know when I did a reinstall/format it did not ask for the CD-key so I guess if it doesn't ask I can use it?
