So confused on what RAM to buy for a new E6600 and 680i motherboard build coming up.

The E6600 will be water cooled and overclocked.

What is the best RAM to buy to get max overclock and also work well with the new 680i chipset.

I have read numorous posts but I'm still up in the air about the memory.

Do I need anything higher than DDR2-800?

I need more HELP :)

Thanks

Hi,
I'm in a similar boat.
I am not very experienced, but from reading many threads I've figured out a couple of things.

You want DDR2 800Mhz or DDR2 that will overclock to that or more, depending on how far you will push your cpu. Get a real stable 800mhz memory this could be a choice although I dont know about its compatibility with your MB:
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820220095 this overclocks weel it seems from the reviews.
Or this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220144 at 800mhz

hope this helps you get more responses ^^

If you want to run a high memory frequency with your CPU you can buy memory that is overclocker friendly. It's generally a bit more expensive to get a top of the line memory with the good chips. So if you have a budget you don't have to buy the top of the line stuff and a good DDR2-800 kit will do you well. Or heck, even a DDR2-667 kit will be fine (and most will do 800).

With the 680i you have the luxury of running your memory slower than your FSB. This makes it easier to overclock your CPU without having to buy super fast memory. With a P965 board you would need memory that can do DDR2-1000 if you were trying to go to 500Mhz FSB.
