So come on, really, how do you get past the Turret sequence in Dead Space?

So far, this game has been fantastic. It's everything I had heard about it. Me = happy camper up until now. I tried the turret sequence 2 different sittings (half dozen times each try) and now haven't touched it in two weeks. Is there a cheat or something? It appears you are supposed to use them independently and also not shoot until the asteroids are close or you are wasting you're time. But I've been in limbo for 2 weeks just for this stupid part. I mean I pretty much suck at consoles and have only been playing on a 360 a year or two (mostly got it for the fam) but come on. Any hints from AT? Or did all you guys just put the game on the shelf when you hit this point?

I beat it on the first try, but barely. It was the most difficult part of the game.

Wierd, I didn't have any problems with that (played on PC). Trick is to tap the fire button repeatedly without holding it down so you get unlimited spray without overheating, if I'm thinking the right game.

Well, it is obviously easier on PC (with v-sync disabled). I don't remember an overheating problem though...I thought you could fire as much as you wanted?

Wasn't this where if you fired in linked-mode (both cannons) it would overheat, but if you fired a single cannon, it would not? I remember firing one cannon 95% of the time and only firing dual-mode when I absolutely needed the extra spray. DO NOT overheat, usually that means death, if I remember right.

Yeah, that's the idea. Separately so you don't overheat. But I am teh suck. I can't do it.

Yeah, sure, first try :).

This is the hardest part of the game, but luckily it's a fairly short sequence. Just keep plugging away, and remember the incoming debris pattern.

To be fair, I had heard how hard the turret part was, so I went in focused. Still barely made it, though.

I almost stopped playing Dead Space because of this part, took me probably 2 dozen times before I finally squeaked through it.

Glad they didn't include anything as ludicrous in DS2.

I think it's just a way to put console gamers in their place as second tier gamers. That's simple with a keyboard/mouse.

Keep firing the near the center. Don't chase the meteors that is already near to the side of the screen as it will only detract you from defending your center and the other side. Don't be afraid to overheat when firing at huge amount of meteors if it will eliminate most of them
