ok, so i thought i had it all figured out. well, the simple prototype i was working on didn't have any problems. when i created the actual database i ran into a snag.
i have some queries in MS Access. the queries (and the main table that they are built from) have drop-down boxes. the drop-down boxes' choices are contained in other tables. nwhenever i want to insert a new record via the query, i get an error message:
The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot find a record in the table VPArea with key matching field 'VPArea'.
This error message only appears when i don't choose something for a column that has a drop-down box. if all the drop-down box fields are filled in (even though other fields aren't filled in), then the query will allow me to create a new record or go to the next one.
any suggestions? thanks!
