That's what I thought.

QFT, infact I've seen cars that didn't even include a passenger side mirror.

You should check your state law. Older cars do not have a starboard mirror so you can't really ticket people for not having one beacuse they were not installed, however because your car came with one installed it could cause a problem. Check with a car inspector at your local repair shop. If it would pass inspection you should be good.

My state it is illegal if they shake during transit. So yes, they are required.

This is in PA.

I believe you need just one rear-facing mirror here in ND. It's either one or two...

If it was only one, would that mean you'd just need to have either the rear-view mirror or the driver-side mirror?

Seems a little weird that it'd be just one if this is the case.

Ohio Revised Code

4513.23. Rear view mirrors.

(A) Every motor vehicle, motorcycle, and trackless trolley shall be equipped with a mirror so located as to reflect to the operator a view of the highway to the rear of such vehicle, motorcycle, or trackless trolley. Operators of vehicles, motorcycles, streetcars, and trackless trolleys shall have a clear and unobstructed view to the front and to both sides of their vehicles, motorcycles, streetcars, or trackless trolleys and shall have a clear view to the rear of their vehicles, motorcycles, streetcars, or trackless trolleys by mirror.

(B) Whoever violates this section shall be punished as provided in section 4513.99 of the Revised Code.

Guess he felt there wasn't a clear and unobstructed view to both sides of the vehicle. Looks like a law with built-in wiggle room for the enforcer.

I grew up in PA and it is NOT a requirement to have a passenger side mirror. It is required that you have a drivers side mirror however. My dad has an old Volvo sedan that doesn't have a passenger side mirror.

Some cars didn't have them from the factory. Not sure what date/year they all had them, but I've owned vehicles without.

39-21-38. Mirror. On and after January 1, 1964, every motor vehicle, operated singly or when towing any other vehicle, must be equipped with a mirror so located as to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for a distance of at least two hundred feet to the rear of such motor vehicle.

It is just one...how about that, I know a law! ;)

I've owned my truck for three years and the passenger side mirror has always faced the ground. It won't move because it's broken.

in IL i believe it's rear view (interrior mirror) and 1 exterior mirror

so as long as one side had a mirror and your one on the windshield was still there then you're fine
