So can you be too nice?

After the much publicized (at least on this board) dumpage by my girlfriend and getting into a major fight with my best friend, I've decided to conciously be a nicer person (I know that I've been a prick lately)... You know, giving rides to my elderly neighbor's waiting for the bus, that sorta deal... After I gave my extra printer away to one new acquaintance / co-worker, proof reading three people's graduate level disertations and picking up a girl who needed a ride after a painful surgery (all in one weekend) my ex is now saying that I'm over doing it... I don't really care what she thinks but by "over doing it" will I end up looking creepy?

haha.. you're partially right - I am nicer after I got dumped.. but it's not to get a new girl... My gf made me a friendless loser (she took up all of my time) and I became a bit bitter and assanine too.. so, yeah, i'm just being nice for niceness' sake and trying to meet new people...

There is nothing wrong with being nice. Just don't let people take advantage of that niceness, nor do you want to be so nice as to alarm people.

Why can't you just be yourself, be it a prick or a nice guy?

Relationships don't last long when you're constantly trying to behave contrary to your nature...

Well, my prickiness was due to me dealing with stress in the wrong way..... So, yeah, I'm trying harder to work out my stress in other ways while being pleasant to the people around me... so i'm not trying to be someone else...

truer words have never been said...

Also, as much as women say that they like nice guys that make them laugh, it's a complete crock of medieval bullsh!t

true and true.
to the OP, just make sure you don't get taken advantage of. not just by girls

yes you can be too nice, but it doesnt seem to me that youre overdoing it quite yet. being too nice is letting people take advantage of you...

Nice guys finish last! No girl wants to date a pushover!!

Nice guy: Girl says "Jump" and he says "How high?".
The jerk: Girl says "Jump" and he says "You jump. I want to see them bounce."
