So, can dirt *protect* your car paint? :)

Just wondering, if your lazy like me and don't care if the car looks dirty does it matter? does a clean cars paint without wax tarnish or oxidize more then a car that has a nice layer of protective dirt? :)

btw anyone use car polish? was considering it to get the swirlies out, but taking off some finish kinda makes me feel iffy:p

i don't know about protecting it, but it will scratch the paint if something brushes against it.

well let's see. I didn't clean my car in so long that a friend wrote on the bumber with his finger. and once I finally did clean it, the writing wouldn't come out no matter what I did. so it's probably not all that good

No, the dirt will not protect your finish and will in fact make it degrade faster.

I've been reading a forum on car detailing and a good synthetic wax will last much longer than carnuba wax. The top two on that forum are Klasse and Zaino. I'll just give you the link and let you read up on it for yourself.

Start with the detailing forum and also check out the members pictures.

Check out this picture for an example.

I should point out before someone else does. Klasse and Zaino are not waxes but polymer sealents. They perform the same function as a wax and I still tend to refer to them as a wax which is technically incorrect.
