Me @ Baldy. 😛

that actually looks okay. (the weather, not you 😛)

Meaniepoo. That's the last time I'll be posting advice! 😛

What a great picture, RaDragon! I've been a skier for almost 14 years and a snowboarder for almost 4 now. I prefer boarding on smaller slopes and skiing when I go to places like Mammoth. Perhaps we will see each other at Baldy, Bear or Snow Mtn this season.

May I add that picture to the "Ladies of ATOT" thread? 🙂

Eek. That's not a very good photo of me, I'll PM u something. 🙂

See ya on the slopes. My snowboard says "RaDragon" in case you run into me. Don't be a stranger! 😀

yo, RaDragon, you went to SkiDazzle right? will you be going to Bear Mountain this weekend then? if so, c u there.

Went to Ski Dazzle on Sunday. Not going this weekend (have a friend's house-warming to go to). Have fun, though! 🙂

you honestly believe sugar bowl sucks and mt. high is acceptable. Are you insane? I don't even know what to say.

it's all relativity. Sugar Bowl was OLD school, their lifts scared me. Compare to any resorts in Tahoe, Sugar Bowl was by far the worst. Granted, if I compare Sugar Bowl directly to Mt. High and the two are equally apart from my home (and other Tahoe's resorts somehow simutaneously shutdown), I will then goto Sugar Bowl.
Mt. High is acceptable compared to what I would expect in So Cal, and I don't expect anything from SoCal's mountain and weather.

ok, sugar bowl is the low end in tahoe. I think alpine and boreal are worse personally with donner ski ranch just a flat out disgrace.

It depends on your skill-level. The nursery slopes are a joke but you can get better terrain when you go higher up. It's fun going down the Double-Diamond to your car, though. i.e., at the end of the day, you either take the lift down, or ski/board down 😀

I hear Mt. Baldy doesn't blow snow? so it's only open during good snow seasons?

I hear that when Baldy is open, it's a pretty awesome place

I haven't tried Snow Valley and Mt. Baldy though. anyone tried these two before?

Snow Summit is a BIT better?! wtf... there's no comparison. Mountain High has like 4 runs! Now Bear Mountain compared to Snow Summit is more of how it shoudl go. In that aspect I like Snow Summit better just because there are more runs. Bear Mountain though has a nicer snowboard park.

the bear mtn resorts are far superior in So. Cal.
Snow Summit being better than Bear Mtn, but Bear mtn's not bad, just really small, hehe.

Mtn high blows, lol. Well, it's the easiest drive, and the closest.

going to mountain high sunday after today's rainfalll...

any tips/suggestions in general about visiting mtn high? ie... best spots to snowboard, convenience (renting, eating) tips..

Get that $99 3 lift ticket + rental thing?

I've only been skiing at two or three "resorts" here in WNY.
The one is really just a small place for the locals.
The other is a larger more popular place that people come from some distance to buy realestate and ski at. It's in Ellicottville, ny.

The slopes at Ellicottville are great, but I don't know any better.

totally agree. however, I can't be completely certain on Mtn High's suckage yet. I mean, I heard ALOT of complaints about it ice-prone slopes. But last time I been there (2 years ago as a novice) I had a good time. plus it is the closest too.

meanwhile, I went to Mt Baldy last month and it was a rather old resort. Most runs aren't open so I strongly suggest you check their website prior to going there. Make sure it says "all runs open" in the snow condition page. Otherwise, stay away. But in the good times with plenty of snow, my friend said it is still pretty fun. There is a place in Arcadia that sells Mt Baldy ticket at a discount. (it's a ski shop on Hungtinton cross Rosemead)

I went around Feb. earlier this year, and the conditions were ok. I'm not saying they were super or spectacular, nor am I saying they are bad; they were just "ok". Me @ Baldy. 😛

I gave Mt Baldy another try when conditions are optimal, and the experience was satisfying... not bad for a 30 dollar ticket.

Good god all these SOCAL people. What are you talking about... SHIZZLES..

Bear Mountain is totally crap.

Go to Tahoe damnit.

Sierra, Kirkwood, Homewood all pretty good. Probably going back to Sierra next time.

come on people, there's not a lot of choices if you have to work weekdays. So realistically you only get Saturday off to ski, while Sunday is reserved for physical recovering. For Mammoth and Tahoe, you can't pull that sh1t off without taking at least a day off work/school.
