Saw it in today's ad inserted in the LA times......IBM 40GB HD ATA 100 and it's 7200RPM bare drive only.....not too bad......:)

how is this drive compared to the crappy 60GXP? mine just died after like 5 months of minimal useage.

avoid all ibm drives at all costs, IBM has already ditched their hard drive business, that should tell you something

The 120gxp IS NOT AS BAD as the 60 and 75gxp. But I would rather have a Maxtor 740X series. Got mine from Newegg.com

i dont know what that stuff means. can some1 help me out by telling me which i should buy please. i use my comp for mostly games and encoding movies, so i need a pretty durable HD

Stay away from IBM hard drives at ALL COSTS!! I've had THREE 40 GB IBM hd's crash on me in a row!!!
Just bought a Maxtor.. I've had many Maxtor's and they've never crashed on me before.

IBM HD's suck major a$$!

ams30gts: the second one the d740x-l is the new liquid bearing drive. it supposed to be more quiet and believe. i am unsure of the reliability though, you may want to check out storagereview.com for a complete review.
