So Cal Fry's B&M has been advertising these every few weeks for $199.99, but in the 3/26/05 Orange Country Register AD (upper right corner) the price has dropped to $179.99 +tax, NO rebate. Outpost.com (Fry's online store) is still showing it for the non-sale price of 279.99.

I bought two of these for relatives recently and they are decent basic computers if you don't want to build your own. They even come with a cheap keyboard, mouse and speakers. More info in THIS THREAD.

Swap some parts, buy some extra ddr memory ant then you'd have quite a decent upgrade ghettocboy. So far its a decent system. Not "great quality", just good guality. Unlike most of their blank cd or dvd media. Those just suck.

nomadh, i hear that brother, i have a cake of their cd-r's and they rank 'up' there with krapermedia and office depot-brand media.

anyway, i picked up this GQ machine for 179 back during BF and it overclocked quite well. it included pc2700, so i set the fsb to 166 and it ran fine at ~2.2ghz with no multiplier/voltage adjustment. i was satisfied and threw in another 256mb pc2700 to give it 384mb total and its still running as a pc for my dad. best 193 bucks i ever spent. bought it at downers grove, il fry's (chicago) so tax is like 8%.

I was in Fry's today and looked at a spindle of GQ DVD+Rs and you could see splotches in the dye thru the packaging. I've had good luck with about a dozen 10-packs of the GQ CDr's in the slim jewel cases, but I wouldn't touch the GQ DVD media.
