Instead of being able to have a reasonable discussion about the validity of ANY solution to any problem, we get this frat-boy bully nonsense about "where's your solution?". I'm not sure what kind of debate we're having here, but ideas don't suddenly become better because they are the only solution presented at the time. A lot of the time it's better to simply reject a bad idea, then worry about coming up with a better one. The alternative is doing things like invading Iraq, which was a terrible idea, but it was the first thing that popped into Bush's mind as what to do next in the war on terrorism...so clearly it must have been just a FANTASTIC idea, right?

For what it's worth, I actually like the idea of dealing with North Korea by putting pressure on China. China is emerging as a real world power, it's time they stopped acting like some two-bit dictatorship and actually started pulling their weight in the international community. But your guys style of "debate" is quite possibly the most annoying thing about P&N, and unfortunately overshadowed any chance at having a real discussion on the topic.
Rain, I think I am the last person you should be lecturing about driving the debate, especially on this thread, before the one you responded too I had made one comment, and that was asking Tech's for his solution.

Now if you think we should all just start threads by bitching about things we don't like without offering any ideas or solutions then fine, have at it. But I think honest and open debate starts with at least offering some ideas of your own. Despite the fact that you may disagree with my ideas, I do at least offer them, which is more than half the posters on P&N do.

I think we are actually closer on this NK thing than you may think. There are a LOT of people on here who understand the key to this whole thing is China. That is how we can apply pressure to NK and therefore bring about a solution.

It seems the only hope we have to bring NK to its knees, and in doing so cause the starvation of thousands of people, or we try a military response and hope we can take Kim and his weapons out. Right now the military response is off the table, and only time will tell if pressure actually works.

Finally, lil Kim seems to be an irrational person. He spends billions of dollars on his military every year while thousands of people starve to death. Then he sets off a test Nuke, knowing that everyone in the world has demand he not do so, even China told them not to do it. I do not see any plan to solve this problem that involves working with him. The only solution I see is Kim essentially "surrendering" where he allows broad inspections and agrees to cut back on his arms trade and in response we provide economic and food aid.

If anyone else has a better idea I would LOVE to hear it.

Techs, since you are such an expert what should Bush do? And how shall he go about getting your plan into place?

*Crickets*

We've got a bunch of armchair quarterbacks around here spouting off, yet, curiously, none of them ever propose how to do it. They just bitch and moan about Bush like usual.

And none of them want to talk about Clinton's 1994 "Framework" which (IMHO) has put us where we are now with regards to NK and nuclear proliferation.

Yeah so let's not offer any solutions and bitch about how it's all Clintons fault.... At least Clinton will admit it when he is wrong...

Anyway... About NK, what? Are we suppose to have a draft? Hmmm............ Hey!!! Light pops on! Now bush can call a draft and not look like he lied (again).... This time he can blame it on the WMD in NK! :) Oh joy.

Think about it. We are already short in Iraq and troops are over stretched.... There is no way we can do anything unless we pull out of Iraq to take care of NK. But I think we should have 100 X more troops on the SK boarder just in case things get ugly.

There that's my start....... If we want to be a super power of the world we better start looking like we can handle a few wars at once... Heck that may even save him from spending all that cash in Iraq, when the us debt hits 10T he can just blame it all on NK.

Oh well... I think he is too stupid to realize it tho. Other then if he opened up his mouth this time no one would give him the time of day since everyone thinks he is a poor excuse for a human being.

Yeah imagine that ? People tell you not to do something that would obviously create more problems then it would solve and now you say they are "bitching". How old are you ?
