Just bought a copy of Brink.. apart from the Bad fps, the gameplay isn't too bad.. very similar to quake wars though.. still.. what's the people's verdict?

Splash Damage = fail.

Judging by the number of responses you are even getting in this thread, there isn't much interest, lol. Either that, or its so freakin' awesome that people can't stop playing it to respond.

Well the SP and the MP are basically the same thing, but one with bots and the other with people.

The game isn't bad, you just have to know what kind of game it is - if you played something like Enemy Territory Quake Wars you'll understand.

I honestly just have a hard time enjoying any shooter as much as I enjoy TF2. Everytime I think I'll enjoy one I just go back to playing TF2 and never touch them again (COD (any), Brink, Crysis, etc...)

It seems that brink was released without proper play testing. The issues with popular ATI cards shows proof of that.

How did splash damage play test the game on ATI cards, and then release it in its current state? They did not play test, thats how.

Will Brink be great or a flop? I think Brink has been tarnished due to splashdamge dropping the ball. With so much bad press on release day, I doubt the sales are going to be very good.

Brink reminds me heavily of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which is a very good thing indeed. Yet, I cannot recommend a purchase at this time because the game is quite buggy still. I've had the sound cutout on one map everytime (just that one map, the others are fine), random OpenGL crashes to desktop, and poor performance on top of all that. I don't believe the developer deserves your money until they fix this nonsense.

The general consensus on Brink is that it has a unique style and interesting ideas, but is marred by poor execution.

This^

The first thing the game needs is a fix to the stuttering feel to the framerate even if it is running at high FPS (an OpenGL problem?).

They've come out with 4 major patches now.. gameplay certainly is much improved.. definitely a Quak Wars clone.. not too many people online though.. Still.. it seriously ain't that bad

If they had to release so many patches in such a short time, then the game shouldn't have been released yet in the first place.

Fixed that for you.

I have to agree, I play FF because I do not like the direction that tf2 has gone. I bought the Orange box when it came out, and did not like tf2 the first time I played it.

As for Brink, I have not played it, I bought it for my son, and he says he likes it.

From looking at the game play, I think there needs to be a wider assortment of weapons besides rifles and pistols. There needs to be "something" that mixes it up a little bit.

After watching my son play Brink, the game seems "bland".

seemed like someone was stuck in TF2 genre, and couldnt get himself out of it.

So figured he would put in a lot of customization on clothe and weapons but yet try to keep the TF2 foundation on the game.

Meh.. short... after playing the demo, i started missing TF2.

I'm still curious to play it. However based on the reviews I don't think its worth it at its current price point. Once steam offers it for less than 10 bucks I'll snag a copy.

Brink is a game I was really looking forward to, but ended up being not what U expected at all. I'm still somewhat interested, but I will wait for some patches and a price drop. Most reviewers concur that the game came out in an incomplete state.

I pre-ordered Brink during a D2D sale for $28.25. Was really looking forward to this game and was rather disappointed. However, I feel it was worth the money, it's not as bad as everyone seems to think.

I could never get into TF2 because I was so many years behind. It is not noob friendly in the least.

For some reason Quake Wars never felt quite right to me, but Brink really gives me that RtCW feeling. I'm having a hell of time getting good fps settings with my 6970 though, so it still needs work.

It's not designed for the casual fps player (you will get it in the face by an old school twitch player on occasion), and that coupled with the launch problems has really hurt it.

I think they only tested it on brand new hardware - I've never had a stutter issue at all but I have a brand new rig

I've enjoyed it so far, but I'm a sucker for any team-oriented FPS on-line action
